One of my most recent posts, regarding whether you really want to die, or just want the pain to go away, has given me an idea.

It appears that many people just want the pain to go away, and that they'd be happy/content(?) with life.

How about we all get together and organise a meeting? We could make a day of it, and even if just one person comes out of it feeling better, it would be worth it. Having said that, I reckon many of us would enjoy it.

We could meet in a park, and have a picnic? Or at pub? Or ... any other ideas?

What do you think?

Sending love to all.

hmm I see where you're coming from.. but at the same time this could go very badly it puts a lot of people at risk (revealing identities and making us easily reportable)

From my own perspective, I'm known as being suicidal and having mental health "issues."

I don't really care if my identity is revealed.

I understand your concern, though.

We wouldn't be committing any crime, so who cares if the police turned up?

I'd offer them a sandwich.

You wouldn't know who's a cop, they go in undercover. I don't see a point if I had to be wary of what I say about my own suicide.
But it's everyone's choice.

No need to divulge your life story to everyone you meet ... just first name (of your choice) and general discussion.

I'd like to think that if we were to meet up, speaking of suicide wouldn't be the headlining discussion. Because we all have similar beliefs (well, one in particular) we can just relax and enjoy the moment.

Perhaps a good idea. But you must proceed on the assumption that any meeting you organize will be infiltrated by people hostile to you and to this site. Consequently, everyone who attends should assume that their identity could become publicly known. Everyone attending also needs to be careful what they say, and must think before they open their mouth. Statements can, and probably will be quoted, probably completely out of context, by those hostile to us. I would be inclined to hold at least the first meeting in someone's private residence, not in a public place. That wuld make it harder for hostile entities to disrupt the meeting. It also means that anyone you don't trust can be forced to leave.

Maybe get people who are genuinely interested and do a private group chat and those who come can talk logistics with you. You guys can even do like a preliminary couple of FaceTime/zoom calls to get to know one another before meeting up so it can be planned out over time.
I'd be down but I can't travel rn

As long as you do the meeting in a jurisdiction where forced hospitalization is illegal, assistants shouldn't have any problem.

Some good points.

Or we could hire a hall?

It's a lovely idea but I'd just say be careful. Not only of police and protestors but potentially members as well. There have been predators on this site before. There has even been a rape/murder linked to it I believe:

Obviously- they're unlikely to do it as part of a group but I just think meeting in person could lead to further interactions. I don't know- I just think this world has some REALLY horrible people in it. I expect the majority of people here have good intentions but it only takes one- and they'll likely be charming to begin with.

I REALLY hope- if you go ahead with it- that it's a comfort to people. I can see how it could be. I'd just say- be cautious to everyone.

I don't get why some people on here think that you can trust other people, I could never trust the people on this website, this website is best kept as being an anoymous place to discuss suicide. It's better to be alone than to risk other people creating more problems.

I can certainly see the appeal, and I'd be inclined to look further into it if I had the money to travel. I do enjoy the community here after all. However, meeting like that could pose a risk to our anonymity. All it takes is one person with dishonest intentions to ruin things.

Cops can't take anything from people who have nothing to lose!

But the sure as hell can make it more uncomfortable. Don't underestimate this!

With the recent crackdown on K I don't think it would be wise to meet-up.
If i'm not wrong uk police are in on this trying to connect some ctbs to stuff he sold.

Still cops can't catch people who are alive, even if cops question USA citizens have rights to not to answer

Cops can't randomly come to people and ask questioned in USA
