"I don't understand. All life is destined to end. Why choose to prolong your suffering? Effort, ambition, love—they amount to naught. Happiness, should you find it, is inevitably lost. Stolen away by events beyond your control. There is no logic nor meaning in it. You think there is, convince yourselves, but it's all a cruel accident. Come now, I speak the truth. A truth you would recognize if you looked up at the night sky. Unbroken emptiness. Cold, dark, and silent. Your world, like every other, is but a blemish upon its perfect fabric. Life is an anomaly. It is unnatural and cannot continue. The sooner you accept this, the easier it will be." - Meteion, FF14

O man! Lose not sight!
What saith the deep midnight?
"I lay in sleep, in sleep;
From deep dream I come to light.
The world is deep,
And deeper than ever day thought it might.
Deep is its woe
And deeper still than woe delight.
Saith woe: 'Pass, go!
Eternity's sought by all delight,
Eternity deep—by all delight!'"

Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Friedrich Nietzsche

I like it! Thank you for sharing. Since you play that game, is it true that FF15 motivate teenagers to suicide?

I agree that life is futile and full of suffering but they are incorrect to say that accepting it makes it easier. As far as I'm aware, there is no way to reliably reduce the suffering experienced in life. Also, life is very natural, unfortunately natural things are naturally horrific and are known for eating each other. This distinction doesn't matter though and I agree that looking up at the night sky shows how peaceful nothingness would be.

I agree with this. This is why I'm a pro mortalist as extinction is going to happen anyway so why should it be prolonged? Personally, I think that we should all accept that all life is going to go extinct anyway so why should we prolong it when we have the intelligence needed to end it? Every sentient being right now is suffering in existence with no redemptive value for it as they will die anyway and their suffering will be completely forgotten. I agree with when he says that the absence of life on another planet out in the sky is beautiful. For example, mars has no life and it's beautiful compared to having life on earth which is absolutely horrific.
I agree that life is futile and full of suffering but they are incorrect to say that accepting it makes it easier. As far as I'm aware, there is no way to reliably reduce the suffering experienced in life. I interpretated accepting his words to mean to find a reliable, graceful and painless way to bring out extinction so that this pointless yet harsh cycle of sentient beings on earth can finally come to an end. It would be nice if all humans accepted this so that they can engineer a peaceful extinction method but unfortunately most humans don't care about the suffering happening in the world. As individuals, accepting this harsh fact about life really is so discouraging and painful as many people just don't get it
