I agree with you. It is all fleeting and pointless. But to be happy, it exists. I've seen it. I could have had it. You have to work at it. It obviously helps A LOT if you come from it. Have people guiding you on how to be in life. Not everyone gets that. Then there's all of us. We can't understand each other. They can't possibly see how we would want to end this. They want time to slow down!
It's unreal. Maybe we could have built a society where we all enjoy it. We didn't. Plus I've made mistakes I can't blame anyone for.
It was possible. We could have been them. We are not.
Yes, what you call happiness is actually an illusion, one of life's many. But all illusions fall, and when they fall, everything becomes more difficult. For every illusion of happiness in life, you pay with ten blows of suffering. This is why we are destined for existential checkmate.

I absolutely don't believe anyone in this world can be happy. If someone is happy in this world, it means they're not right in their head. What are family, career success, friends... it's all so fleeting and pointless.
I agree with all of this.

You're free to have your own perspective. You lived a life that shaped your thinking. However, I disagree with this because it affirms this life as the way things should be rather than the rigged game that it is. You're asking someone to look past all of the injustices and inequities of this life to affirm it as being basically good because a few people don't have it as bad. It, furthermore, invalidates the feelings of those who are being abused by it. This is kind of gaslighting, as it tries to convince people that they have a 'wrong' view of life. That their experiences are 'one offs' in the grand scheme of everything. And that's simply not true. Suffering is the feature, not the bug. Happiness is the bug, not the feature.

I'm not trying to attack. However, I had to express my disagreement with it. Respectfully.

Creeping up on 60 here. It sounds strange to say that because I feel about 14 inside. Except that now I know what I suspected was true: "it gets better" is an absolute lie. The only positive thing is I'm almost done with this ride. Death is a kindness and a blessing, it just takes too long sometimes.
Do you have partner and children too? what makes you give up now but not earlier?

You know it's so confusing when I hear you older ppl say its hard being old. Because In this subreddit (r/aging) they describe being old as a marvellous experience, feeling more stronger, healthier and happier. It's totally worth it for them. It makes you think being old isn't all about being in pain and suffering more than ever.

37 and feel like a big fucking loser. Struggled all my life with friendships, relationships, career. I can't drive nor do I own a house. I have no kids or purpose. I have had suicidal thoughts since I was a child.

I have always worked but bounce from job to job. Energy levels were still high until a couple of years ago but I noticed a rapid change and now embracing the ideation and accepting my fate. I actually gave myself a few expiry dates but something would always come by to deceive me that I ought to go on. I have a few affairs to get in order first but it'll be soon for me. I'll say within the next couple of years. If my physical health gets any worse though, it could be any day.
This makes me really sad. Don't do it please. If you want to chat you can message me. But you and I seem to have a few things in common. Including being Mets fans. Talk about adding insult to injury. Are you also a Jets fan?

I'm an old geezer of 65, retired. I would check out now if I had that elusive foolproof peaceful pill we all want. I am pretty much all alone in this world to boot. I have some guns, but the thought of failing horrifies me.
I wish I had a gun and knew how to use one. I would be long gone. All the other methods all seem too complicated for me to figure out. I hope you find the peace u want. And u are not alone u have all of us here on SaSu. It is a lonely world though and I just want to be gone from it but I am tortured everyday by waking up. I hope you find peace in your life.

I hate to disappoint you but met is actually short for Metallica. I don't even listen to them these days but a username that sort of stuck for over 20 years ha! Thanks for the kind words though.
