Like the title says, my therapist suddenly terminated therapy with me. I'm at a loss because we had been working together for almost 3 years and he always seemed very willing to do whatever he could to try to help me. Now what? If my near constant SI was exhausting him and SI is what he works with, what do I do now? I've been dumped by every therapist I've tried to work with, I've tried every class of antidepressants, tried everyday, supplements, nature, neurofeedback, ketamine, etc. Nothing helps.

If I could just push a button, I would've been gone a long time ago. Living is too difficult for me, but so is dying.

I'm sorry. How did your therapist terminate you? No warning at all?

I recommend you check out the reddit sub therapyabuse if you want to connect with people who have been through something similar. Not rare at all.

I've been there and posted recently but can't post as openly about suicide there. And no warning, no. He told me why (he couldn't help me) and gave me referrals.

That's really shitty. If he was having doubts about the relationship and the fruitfulness of it, then he should have introduced the topic more delicately than a sudden termination.

I know it's very discouraging. Therapy never helped me either. In my experience they make horrible spaces to talk about suicide with. It freaks them out even if they "specialize" in it )A meaningless word in the therapy world). You didn't talk about what drives your suicidal thoughts but it doesn't sound like talking to a therapist can make much of a dent in.

The collective pool of wisdom and empathy here is much greater than what I've encountered in any therapist.

Wow that sucks. They're supposed to help people. I couldn't imagine how you felt. It sounds like this guy was sticking with you as a patient I mean 3 years is a long time. They should revoke peoples licenses when they do this stuff you shouldn't be allowed to just stop working with a patient like that.

I'm always amazed by this. Like, isn't he getting paid? Do they get a bad rep if one of their patients CTB?

That's an interesting question.
Because patient privacy should limit that some .
On the other hand someone higher up in the system is likely to investigate it .
Probably
Determine if the therapist followed protocols.
Determine if they should have seen it coming and tried to do a 72 hour hold .

and if it does get out to a journalist.
All bets are off on that staying quiet.

I'm sorry that's gotta be super rough.

Your therapist really should have at least tried to transition you or at least warn you and
Slow sessions frequency .

Definitely shouldn't have been a sudden hard stop.

Yeah. There can be legal action in some cases, if the surviving family wants to go that route. He told me being sued was a concern of his.

I was literally in the middle of posting a similar post with the title "Dumped by My Therapist (again) and this popped up because they don't want duplicate posts. Damn. I don't know what to say. It may have nothing to do with you. Is it an insurance thing? I would definitely ask why. You have the write to know. I don't know if you can text or email, but you should definitely find out. It's like being "rehomed" as an animal. If the office or supervisor or whomever else won't give you an answer, I'd file a complaint for sure.

Mine is moving and apparently cannot take her clients with her, despite her just saying days ago that she wasn't going without them and also being told she could. But the "good" part is she can still stay in touch with me because she's still working for clinic. It's bullshit, and humiliating. I wasn't going to mention her when I ctb but now I may change my mind. This is unacceptable. I didn't even know they could do this without discussing it with you. Sorry bro. Have you tried Spravato, dextromorphan, or mushrooms? Thc edibles didn't help for me but it was worth a shot. God luck :/
