What have you planned for your personal possessions? I have been slowly giving things away, selling them or just throwing them out. Thinking of donating the most of it (clothing, books) to charity. I don't have anything of value so I have no need for a will.

I don't have anything of real value. I'll let my parents decide what they want to keep and the rest they can either give to Goodwill or throw out.

They say the things you own own you.
I don't really own anything of any significance, my house, car etc what is all in my partner's name.
Yet I do not feel free.
We don't inherit the earth from our ancestors we borrow it from our children.

When I CTB the clothes on my back will go to my partner to give to our child

I've sold some stuff on eBay and Craigslist, I've given stuff to charity, given stuff to my daughter and my nephew, and I've thrown stuff out.

At the rate I'm going with this, my house will be empty long before I'm gone.

it's all in my testament: books and records to my friends, money and action figures to my broken brother, academic books to the university library, ps4 and others electronic stuffs to a geek and ill friend.

I like your idea about the books going to a library.

I've given stuff to my neighbours, left them in hall and books and vinyl were taken. I'm leaving certain books to family and they can decide. I'm leaving vinyl and decks to sisters kids and they can sell if not wanted. A signed top is going to friend. Tickets going to brother.
I need to see a lawyer about other stuff.

While I can understand why some people would want their belongings to be treated a certain way after their death, I've always been of the belief I'll be too dead to care. I suppose my circumstances allow for it.

While I get this, I'm not keen on people randomly going through my old belongings as if they can figure out why I did it. I've seen this happen after suicides and it just seemed so disrespectful and invasive, even though the person is dead. Let the dead rest, is all. People can get really strange when it comes to the dead's belongings. I'd roll over in my grave if someone found some of my journal ramblings and claim they "understood" me when it was probably some junk I wrote on sleeping pills :haha:

I get how you feel. But I imagine you'll be just as dead as I will be. Which to me translates to you probably being too dead to care too.

Lol wouldn't it be awesome if there was an afterlife and you meet the person and you're like "yeah, I wrote that when I was high. It really didn't mean anything"

I don't care what's done to my things. My mother can even burn my spiritual stuff for all I care (she's Catholic and disagrees with my beliefs). I don't have a lot of valuable things. All I can imagine them in is in a dumpster or Goodwill. But I could be wrong.

Haha yes. I know I shouldn't care. I suppose I just have too much time to think being alone so often

Anything with sentimental value, I guess I'll just keep it close me (physically speaking) since it resembles a good memory and I'd like to have some peace of mind when I am going out of this life.

It's not that you "shouldn't" care while you're still alive. It's just that you won't after you're dead. But if you care about it now go ahead and make whatever arrangements you want. Don't let me stop you. I'm sorry you're alone so often. I'd totally hang with you if we lived close to each other (not the kind of hanging we're usually talking about on this site though lol).

I am an intensely private person, and the thought of people rifling through my belongings is mortifying to me. Even after death.

I have no idea what I'm going to do. I'm hesitant to throw things out or destroy things because what if I have last-minute second thoughts and back out of it? It'd be like... well, that wasn't too brilliant, now, was it? Hmm.

My house is so full of junk and I am so deep in the throes of depression (I am literally non functional) that I can't even begin to clean things out. Everything overwhelms me, even writing a check. I have no idea who this person is that I've become. It depresses me so much

Most items of value have already been sold or given to friends. Left a few items in my condo to make it look like I am still living there should anyone check (haven't payed the rent and they think I'm on holiday). All done and dusted.

I have a "death plan" I keep in my wallet. Has instructions on who gets what, what to sell, what the money goes to. May not ctb any time soon but you never know.

It amuses me to see this thread because that's exactly the though I was having yesterday while almost CTB. Funny enough, as much as I love fightclub quotes, I am owned by my things. Not so much the things themselves, but the hate at the thought of someone making a profit off of me quitting. If I ever CTB I'm selling everything myself. My landlord, or other greedy estate sellers/buyers are not getting a penny!

I have a step child from a previous relationship. I feel like he should get any money when I pass.

When I'm ready one of the last things I'll do is go to a notary and have him draw up my will. If I don't do this my belongings would go to my deranged parents who are largely responsible for my misery. I want to avoid this at all cost: they deserve a fate worse than death for what they did to me so obviously I'm not going to reward them for fucking me up.

My money will go to various charities: at least that way my life and especially my death will at least have had some meaning and been useful to at least a few people.

I don' have any books that are valuable but they'll go my friends if they want them. The same for my music collection. Whatever wine is left in the cellar will go to them aswell: it's a nice thought I'd have contributed to what will hopefully be moments of happiness or at least a pleasant buzz.

The rest I don't care about.

It sucks that the state will profit from my death (inheritance tax) when I detest it to my core for the injustice it perpetuates and supports but I will not give anything away before my death as this will look suspicious.

Probably sent to a charity shop and the higher valued items auctioned/sold and the money donated.
