You'll never actually know that your suicide attempt worked

You'll never be able to think "yay, it worked!". All you can do is hope you don't survive to know it failed. You can't successfully kill yourself, you can only successfully stop yourself from experiencing more suffering.

I'm bugged by the fact that I'll never be able to be happy that my attempt worked. This saddens me greatly for some reason.

I'm guessing there may be more panic during that time. Besides, I know I'll personally always have a slight nagging in my head that someone unexpected will go wrong.

According to many near death experinces and my own out of body experinces when I was younger, I have no reason to think that exiting the body will be anything less than bliss. I truly believe that death is a benevolent thing..... It would suck to live for eternity. At least in these bodies in this world. I'm open to a beautiful afterlife of love and bliss.... But if I'm just snuffed out of exsistence forever thats good too....

well nobody knows what really happens because this isn't medically dead as far as scientists are concerned, but actually dead and I would include the study and cite my sources, but I am lethargic and so that's likely not gonna happen.

I assume it's the same with methods such as hanging and night night. No oxygen in your brain means the brain can't function. Idk where you got the 5 minute thing. Look at people who got their heads chopped off. They don't have 5 minutes brain time.

well the neurons store their own electricity so they can function for a few minutes after the head is separated...if you look up the biochemistry it will confirm this...I don't remember the exact studies with all the details about how long and what happens but I do know that empirically it stands up logically...though realistically life is illogical.

This thought has occurred to me 10,000 times.

I almost wish you got briefly waken up from death about 5 minutes later to be informed that your suicide attempt worked, before you're allowed to go back to being dead.

I share your fear greatly! Having a nearly successful attempt I'll say that my last moments before losing consciousness were the most terrifying moments in my life. I don't want terror to be the last thing I know before the................................................................................

It feels like nothing. I hung myself and was later resuscitated without vitals an unknown amount of time later. It's just blankness, nothingness. Like whatever was before you were born. Your brain is literallly dying of hypoxia, what conciousness could be there, isn't.

Yes I had damage, mostly cognitive like memory and processing. Before I did it though I already had damage from Adderall/Zoloft/Alcohol/Smoking/etc that pretty much destroyed my dopamine, oxytocin and serotonin systems - so fear wasn't something I felt as I felt numb in general. They had already given me six ECT sessions as well, which did nothing except scramble my brain and leave long term brain damage. Right now nothing feels real and sections of my brain just 'aren't there anymore'. I'm emotionally numb, have PSSD, anhedonia, insomnia, appetite issues, etc. Anyways if you want more details PM me.

That's a lot to deal with. I'm sorry. I have anhednia too & severe insomnia contributed to my breakdown - but of course the fact I had it in the first place was related to loads of underlying / unresolved issues anyway. Thks . I may do so.
