1/10. It's a fake/out of context quote. But if all possessions could be shared and rented on a use-by-need basis (for free), that would be wonderful, actually! Then everyone would get to use the most high quality products at least once in life. Unlike now. When you think about it, you actually own less and less. Most now rent homes and even cars (and NOT for free obviously, therefore reducing happiness). Only fewer and fewer elites actually own things (that you do not get to use). The idea is to take away their power and let everyone take turns in using things for free. Then more people will be happy.

And people will put up no fight at all?
I'm exaggerating a little, but I've become pretty blackpilled on thinking people will put up resistance when their comfort is threatened.

Yeah not being able to actually own things and have someone (who of course can only enforce these policies through force) tell me when I'm allowed to access things sounds great. I trust people not to abuse that.

Well, I also believe in pacifism. So no, no force. But ironically, what you describe is how it is already for many. There are millions who don't even have access to a potato unless they wave magic copper coins and papers with faces on them, even though the potato is rotting on the shelf. If they take it, violence comes their way EVEN THOUGH THE POTATO WILL BE THROWN IN THE TRASH.

I also believe in a form of pacifism. (I say non - aggression, because if someone is physically harming you I think you fight back until the threat is absolved.)

I do feel bad for people who are hungry, and I advocate for personal charity whenever possible, but ... It isn't their potato.

If you want to have the utopia where everything is shared, and I don't want to - because I've busted my ass through my best years to be able to secure a living I have at least some ownership over - the only way to make the utopia happen is to make me to give up what I own through force and threat of force.

The land producing the potatoes, crops etc. was stolen by violence in most places. So it's not a legitimate property claim in the first place. And property = force because you need force to keep OUT people. So it's not pacifism. But neither are classic marxists pacifists I might add.

I can't wait for the day when capitalism destroys itself and the NAP unravels.

Yes, in the past, humans have always taken things from each other. I didn't. I put a huge down payment and pay every month to have a claim to my house in a society that has agreed for generations to leave the past violence behind and recognize that validly acquired ownership claim.

Property does not equal force because I need force to keep people out. That's absurd. It's my property. If a man wants to rape a woman, your logic says she is using force against him by not giving him access. And before you say the personhood is different than property (not a strong argument), think about where you draw the line and who gets to draw it. Where would personal space end?

Notice you aren't advocating for a reset of ownership to right the wrongs of the violence, where everyone gets their own equal starting position and then we are free to transact peacefully from that point on, because the truth is some people will work harder or smarter or better and eventually own more than others. You want there to never be ownership, which makes bringing up past violence even more irrelevant.
I can't wait for the day when capitalism destroys itself and the NAP unravels.
"Capitalism" has already unraveled. Places like Denmark and South Korea are closer to "capitalism" than the US, which most people see as the face of "capitalism." And maybe capitalism is always doomed to fail, as it certainly did in America, but it was sure more successful than other systems during its existence.

When we finally no longer "possess" conscious experiences, we'll be happy.
This may sound bad but I kind of cheer on the whole idea conspiracy theorists have that the elites will depopulate the earth and make an exclusive transhumanist paradise for themselves. It just makes sense. But at least have the decency to euthanize our asses or genetically engineer "happy workers" that are masochistic serfs.

Some people aren't fighting back now, so why expect it to change in the future? Some do fight back—some end up in prison, while a few succeed in establishing their own rules.

Then everyone would get to use the most high quality products at least once in life.
I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic, but if you weren't, your logic does not work.

For example, if I have a resource that you don't, I can manipulate you because you need the resource. You might end up settling for the cheapest and worst option because you have no other choice.

As derpyderpins pointed out, the owner always has an incentive to abuse.

Most people will own nothing, an elite few will own more than ever.

It's starting to come true now. Most people can't afford houses unless they've been left inheritance.

The happy part I can't believe, sadly.

Everything is moving towards a subscription/service model so that investors can have predictable revenue streams. For example, this is fucking hilarious. However, there is a limit as to what consumers are willing and able to pay. I drive a nearly 30 year old car and will continue until there's a reason not to. :sunglasses:

If we're talking basic necessities of life (housing, transportation) then the quote should be "you will own nothing and be happy sad." For example, people are complaining about high housing prices nowadays. If houses become even less affordable in the future then I expect people to become even more infuriated with the housing market than they already are today. And if the housing prices decline then people will be happy that they can afford a house, which means the quote changes to "you will own something [a house] and be happy." So: 1.

If we're talking non-essential items such as entertainment (films, games, books, etc.) or services (right to repair, equipment rentals, etc.) then people are given the option to pay for access or own it outright. And I think the vast majority of people will grow more towards paying for access rather than owning. For example, the majority opts for a Netflix subscription instead of buying a physical or digital copy of a film. Or a Kindle Unlimited without ever needing to buy a book, provided you keep on paying your monthly subscription. Or choosing to buy a device from a company that limit the repairability of their hardware in the sense that the "owner" of the device never truly owns it. Naturally, there will always be a group of people who prefer owning to leasing. But I think that's a minority group. So: 9.

Exactly. YOU might not own anything, but somebody will own everything.
And as soon as someone lets go of control, someone else will seize it — there's no incentive not to, after all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Accurate, we will own nothing if we are nothing aka dead, also be happy, theoretically we will be happy in the moment when we emaciate ourselves from the torment, it is suicidal invitation which is precisely accepted thorought here.

People never put up a fight. They willingly submit to modern day slavery and their corporate overlords
I'm exaggerating a little, but I've become pretty blackpilled on thinking people will put up resistance when their comfort is threatened.

4chan had been calling them vidya long before looksmaxxing was a thing, though they are the ones who coined that term too.

Besides I can't be a NEET, yet. I still have a job for now. 😬

I think you're right in terms of modern days. In the past people resisted, but now no one has the guts to rock the boat. And the trouble is you can't be effective alone. You need to know other people will join in with you, but as you've pointed out all we see around us is submission...

Everything is moving to a digital future be it films, streaming services, video games, rentals and the banks and governments want to get rid of cash so you wont be able to take your money out of the bank and it will just be digital currency. I think it was the WEF that said "you will own nothing and be happy" I'm not happy with the way things are going and that's just another reason for me to ctb.
