I used to think "I'm a survivor," as I've pushed through a number of horrible lows over the years.

Now it seems like the anxiety has overtaken the depressive symptoms and my age,....my age is becoming a huge factor.

We've (all) still survived some shit, as of now but I'm less impressed with my own survival as time creeps on...

Your question brings the "free will vs. determinism" debate to the forefront. Like Neo in the Matrix... I prefer free will because I hate the idea that I'm not in control of my life.

If I fail my attempt and free will reigns, it's because logistical forces came together to prevent me from succeeding

If determinism reigns, then maybe I was meant to succeed in a subsequent attempt. We can only speculate with this perspective.

I'm not a big believer in some greater design...but its possible I have to admit. That said...it doesn't mean one cannot use the time they have to do as much good as they are able to within their own circumstances. This may be something huge helping loads of people...or may be something small like healing an injured bird or something. Even one act of goodness and kindness is one that didn't exist before. Maybe it is true and your purpose was to save that one bird...or advise that one person...or in your case maybe a family would have died under that bridge losing control of their car...or a worker would have been killed there by some maintenance accident and his kids grow up depressed and suicidal...or some such thing...and your attempt there changed the timing just enough to prevent that. It's all possible.

I survived because I did not plan correctly. If I planned appropriately, I would not have survived. So the reason was because of me. No other reason.

I think for some people it can mean something for them. It all depends on who you ask. I think telling someone that can feel patronising especially if they don't believe it. However, some people may realise they don't want to die after failing. My mother is one of those people who is extremely happy she failed her attempt. I hope that I won't ever have to find out what I believe for myself. The pain of failing seems too much to handle. Would rather just die.

I thought there was a reason why I survived my jump, why I didn't smash my head against the concrete. I was going to quit college, retreat from society and become the next enlightened master... living life simply and appreciating every day. In retrospect, I was deluding myself from the truth... my life was descending into Hell. I'll never place special significance on my trials and tribulations ever again.

I don't. That's the sort of thing that is usually said by insensitive pro-lifers who have nothing smart to say and choose to believe that because it doesn't clash with their pro-life worldview. They aren't interested in truth, they're only interested in what makes them comfortable.

Precisely my point. Take your time, inform yourself, learn, plan and calculate and then do it. Success almost guaranteed.

'A reason' in the physical sense sure: obviously something went wrong in the causal chain of events that you intended or you would not have survived.

In the spiritual sense no: unless one presupposes a god concerned with our lives and able and willing to intervene in our fate there is no reason to believe the explanation why one survived is anything but mundane and decidedly material.

Personally I don't see any teleological design in nature so why should we assume things happen for a supernatural, moral reason? To me this seems like a fairy-tale conjured up by people who want to believe their lives have greater meaning and something in the universe actually cares about them and has their back.

If that was the case why would people attempt suicide in the first place?

I've never seriously attempted before, but I am a cancer survivor, and people told me that same thing. I survived for a reason. Eight years later, I still have no clue what that reason might be. I call bullshit, all around.

Well I had CTB attempts Year's ago and I thought I survived for a reason. But it was just more pain in the end I had to endure. So sometimes regret surviving.

No. I have seriously attempted a number of times and shockingly lived each time. It just increases my sense of failure. I believe if there is a "higher power" that they have a cruel sense of humour.

Sometimes, some of us have to admit we are just not good at a particular task, so it makes perfect sense to not keep attempting to do something that you consistently fail at. As someone once said, "You cant reason someone out of a situation they didn't reason themselves into"

Nothing truly has a reason: only the reason that we humans ascribe to it. The universe doesn't give a shit about whether one lives or dies. If surviving gives one the impetus to improve their life and end up happy, then good on them.
