How much would you need to drink to overdose on water? How long would it take?

Sorry, but glancing at search results on this site, nobody has anything good to say about this method.....

Seriously, why don't you try reading the resources at the top of the page and find something that's proven instead of grasping at ill advised methods like you're doing?

Overhydration is very unreliable suicide method. It's side effects include headaches and risk of falling in coma. Amount of water required to cause Overhydration varies from person to person. You would have to to consume atleast 9-15 litres of water over period of short time (Probably 3-4 hours but there is no official data). You are however very likely to pass out before consuming right amount of water to kill you and you may actually fall into coma instead of killing yourself. Because of this it is unreliable method.

I asked this to someone I know who knows. It takes drinking about 6-7 litres of water at once to die. Stomach's average capacity is 0.9 litre. If really pushed, it can hold upto 4 litres. Water does get absorbed very rapidly though but excess water that the body does not need will be vomited even before more serious complications happen. It's just not possible to force yourself do it.

You'd have to drink a lot of water in order to achieve that, I believe. Doesn't seem like a good way to go, imo.

Pretty sure that would be extremely painful. You would be better off trying a different drowning method if you want it to be water related.

It can be done but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be pleasant. Get maybe 6 water bottles & chug them one after the other & you'll probably see an insane amount of water wouldn't be such a cool way to go.

I doubt more than one or two people have pulled this off intentionally in the history of the world. It's almost always ravers who die this way, since they're mixing heavy dancing with MDMA. That's why they're supposed to sip water through the night and not pound a bottle whenever they get thirsty. But you couldn't ctb this way. You'd be too aware of the pain and nausea, etc., even if you popped all the meth in town (which would kill you, but not nice and easy-like).

It's possible, but it's not going to be fast or peaceful, it's also not 100% you won't vomit out the extra water as youre pushing your stomach way beyond its intended capacity. Like another post said, you can pretty much Overdose on Anything if you take enough of it.

it's possible but, i wouldn't recommend it since it's uncomfortable. someone actually died from drinking a lot of water. they were doing a contest, the person couldn't pee/ poop until the contest was over. the person won the contest but sadly died later.

That sounds terrible. I've had too much water, too quickly before and felt extremely ill very soon after and ended up puking for an hour or two. The nausea was the worst I've ever experienced. Wouldn't recommend.

That was a radio station contest called "Hold your wee for a Wii."

The station was eventually sued since a nurse had called in during the contest to advise that health problems including death might result.

IIRC, the person who died lived quite uncomfortably for a while. The whole thing sounds pretty awful.
