Xanax overdose is a viable option?

I'm planing to take a good amount (thinking about 40mg or above) of xanax and mix with vodka, maybe i will take some antiemetic, and lay in a position where helps if i start choking/vomiting to not suffer that much. What are the chances by dying of a xanax overdose? It will be painful? As xanax makes you feel almost every feeling less than you should, it shoudn't be that painful, and mixing with alcohol i will probably have a respiratory failure right? If i survive what could be the consequences?

i know that is kinda of utopic but i just want to die peacefully in my bed, listening to my favorite songs :/

According to the label, Oral LD50 in rats is 331-2171mg/kg .
Do some maths. Maybe think about something else.

It is almost impossible to overdose on benzos but its a good way to enter into a new level of pain and suffering when your body starts to withdraw from that massive amount... benzos will ruin your life, but they are not likely to end your life unless you have a series of siezures (not the way to go) as the drug leaves your system. Or you choke on your own vomit from the alchohol... also not a good way to go

Benzos are unreliable. They are designed to achieve the effects of Barbiturates, but without the overdose factor.

I've been trying to come off Klonopin (partly so I'd have a supply and also because I think it makes my depression worse), and it's hell. When I was prescribed a benzodiazepine more than 10 years ago, I had no idea the effects it would have on me, especially when it came time to stop. Headaches, insomnia, tremors, itchiness on the outside and inside, GI problems, manic feelings, etc. I had to go back to my 3mg per day dose because I got so sick trying to drop by 1mg at the start. I'm dropping by .25mg at a time now.

For what it's worth, Klonopin was one of the many meds I took in January with alcohol and I'm still here. I almost lost my liver though since I added something with acetaminophen too. It wasn't a fun week in the ICU.

Benzos show up in a lot of celebrity suicide stories, but that's not really what people die of. Mostly they OD on opioids (Oxy, H, F), with alcohol and benzos mixed in. Heath Ledger didn't die because he took Xanax, he died because he also took other benzos and at least two opioids. Benzos are kind of fun for a few weeks, and then they're really not. And when they do kill, it isn't pleasant. The only remotely reliable way to die by benzo is to get hooked, go gold turkey, and see what happens. If you're lucky and suicidal, the withdrawal seizures will kill you fast. But probably they won't.

I think its not a good option specially when one is used to it. While theoretically everything can kill, practically its different and not always applicable or peaceful.

I think the answer is pretty clear: xanax by itself is not a suitable method at all.

I will add that I think you deserve kudos for asking first. Many people would have just popped the pills without a second thought only to wake up hugely dissapointed and possibly in a hospital gown.

You'd have to take a ton to ctb. If you mixed that with a bottle of vodka you might have a better chance but personally I wouldn't risk it.

Grapefruit juice interacts with benzos somehow but I doubt enough to matter when you needed it to. It's nasty as hell anyway imo so scratch that for I.

I heard of people popping 80 - 100 with a shot of insulin to help kickstart the events and they woke up after 3 days, still very much alive.

I honestly don't think that would work. I have over 18,000 mg of morphine ER
Over 1000 mgs of Xanax
Klonopin
800mgs of Percocet
And a lot of anti nausea meds


There's also a way you have to do it! You have to fast for two days before you plan on killing yourself so you throw up as little as possible. Then you have to grind them up and put them in yogurt or pudding and eat it. But I'm so sorry what you have doesn't sound like enough
You need some hard duty pain killers.

Yea this. You have to mix them with lots of opioids and low tolerance ups the chances of ODing. I should know my sister almost committed a successful suicide like this but she was found

Zero chance, unfortunately. This is due in part to the relatively short half life of Xanax. In fact, 40mg. Is a minuscule amount to begin with. Yes, vomiting may occur, but, unfortunately, you will live to see the sunrise.

That same combo of Xanax and vodka almost killed my brother. He would've died if we hadn't come home and gotten him to the hospital. As far as in his case, he didn't vomit at all, he was just out cold and not breathing so I would say he wasn't suffering.

Nope. Stay far, far away from anything with Tylenol/paracetamol in it. It will not kill you but will leave you with extraordinary pain and severe liver damage.

I'm afraid to say I have very little memory of what I actually took
The truth is,I had a stash of N,but reached it's expiry date,so I chose to pass it on to someone who needed it more than me
Maybe it was not having that to hand or maybe I was just at a desperate point
I know I went to my mom's house because she had an old box of Amitriptyline.
Not sure how much was in there,but I took the whole box (quite a large box) along with anti emetics and valium (and some wine).
I have no memory of passing out at all. Furthermore,I jave no memory of going to their house or taking the meds
I came around in the ICU with brain damage from hypoxia and heart damage from the amitriptyline.
But it was totally painless and I would do it again.
