The awful things we do to make the head go quiet

The world is in shambles. And the US "president" is speed running us into world war iii. I know everyone says this anytime things get bad in the world, but the instability in practically every country isn't a joke anymore. And when the leaders of the world are all at war, we all know where this is headed. The US kidnapping the president of Venezuela and then threatening to take Greenland, meanwhile US citizens can't afford groceries. Russia still at war with Ukraine. Palestine. I could go on and on. We are at the beginning of another world war. If I needed any other reason to get out of here…

I ignored politics for years as it did nothing for my mental health. But I am actively living the consequences of corporate greed. I cannot get a job because the US job market is so bad. I have no money. My health is failing and I'm being let down by a broken healthcare system. I watch grocery prices rise by the day. AI is taking over everything. I can't ignore politics anymore because politics have destroyed my life. Because the US dictator would rather invade other countries for oil than make healthcare, groceries, and housing affordable. He would rather suck Putin's dick than make wages livable. He would rather stuff the pockets of billionaires taking away clean water for AI data centers than make laws preventing AI from filtering out job applications. He would rather create concentration camps filled with LEGAL immigrants and people just trying to support their families than address a single true issue. I can't ignore it anymore. Yes, it's horrible for my mental health. And with my failing physical health, shit mental health, and lack of any money, there is nothing I can do about it. But I can't ignore it because it's all right in front of my face.

Yup- was looking to get an apartment, because I know I am depressed and need to start socializing more…but now I'm second guessing even the cheapest options I found because I am scared of a recession, grocery inflation, and losing my job. 😓

I literally went from last week figuring the economy would be somewhat stable enough in 2026…to panicking because of Venezuela…

I am uninsured. Large amounts of student debt for a degree that didn't pan out into a career. (Trump is also threatening to garnish wages; while my loans are being paid and not in default… I'm scared that at any moment that could change!) Started a job that I dislike, but I can't leave now because I literally can't find another job. (I spent all of October applying!) I'm in a field that is undoubtedly going to collapse if a recession hits, and since I am fairly new at the office, I will undoubtedly be one of the first they let go if things go bad with the economy.

Debated about going back to therapy… but I am uninsured and from what I heard it's all on Zoom now anyway.

Everything just sucks right now. Even escapism sucks because there are zero original shows or films to take everyone's minds off how little anyone has control over their own lives anymore.

Getting out is a privilege. Trust me, if I could, I would. But I am unemployed, I have no money, my savings ran out months ago. I'm reliant on money from family that is quickly running out. I have no ties to foreign countries. I have no passport. And I am physically disabled, often bed bound, and I cannot just up and leave all of my specialists without having access to new ones in another country. Leaving a a luxury for those with the money, connections, and physical ability to do so.

Honestly most countries only want immigrants in certain fields and require a set income limit. If you don't have dual citizenship, are wealthy, or are working in a sought after industry- you're stuck in America.

"Immigration to the UK involves significant costs, primarily visa fees (
hundreds to thousands of USD for Skilled Worker, Family, or Innovatorvisas, plus Healthcare Surcharge), plus moving expenses (thousands for shipping belongings), and proof of sufficient funds (e.g., £29,000+ annual income for partners). Costs vary widely by visa type, family size, and lifestyle, but expect visa fees (e.g., £824-£1,036+ for Skilled Worker) plus the annual Immigration Health Surcharge (£1,035+), often totaling several thousand dollars upfront before living expenses."

I don't think he will give up power even when voted out. He's like Putin.

Thankfully I am too disabled even to be drafted. But I hope as many people as possible evade or consciously object. There is no need for any of this.

I don't think it'll end in WW3 unfortunately
It's hard to imagine a scenario in which the superpowers wish to confront each other directly

This hellscape needs deleting but being a hellscape it'll just go on and on and on and on and on and on

I do wonder what goes on in the heads of Putin, Trump etc.
Why they play this deadly game of chess

It's still fear mongering, though, unless and until there is measurable evidence to back it up. I mean, there used to be the guys on the streets all the time with the "The world is about to end" signs... and IF they kept doing that, eventually one of them would be right. So, we can keep saying "WWIII is nearer than ever" and eventually it will be true if such a war breaks out... but the rest of the time it is just fear mongering.

We could, instead, put energy into trying to not go down that road. IF the reasonable and friendly and non-warlike among us truly are the majority then we should exercise our voices and power to unify and work towards the peaceful world that would benefit everyone. IF we sit back and don't even say how stupid and horrible and selfish and greedy most of the world's leaders are... then all the fear mongering in the world isn't going to matter one bit.
