Writing to D - how to type an address?

Hello there.

As in the topic, my questions is to those who contacted with D.
How do I write my address?

Do I need to write in English (like in the USA)? For example:
49 Narrow Street, Apartment #30
Cracow
Zip code: 00-000

Or do I write in my own language (Poland-Europe):
Ulica Narrow 49/m.30
Kraków
Kod pocztowy: 00-000


Can anyone help me? It might be silly question but I don't want to make any mistake

You could give D both options.

You could also have a look at the UPS site. Pretend that you want to send a parcel to someone and look what, according to their site, you have to type.

But I'm still wondering is it better to write "flat" or "apartment"?

I don't think that one is better than the other. They're both very clear. But what is more important, is what D can type in the online form of UPS (or DHL, if he chooses that carrier). '45 Narrow Street' he will most probably be able to type there, but I'm not sure about the second option. So in the end, I think it is he who has to choose. But you can always give him the two options, of course.

Write the address in the format *your* country uses, since it'll be *your* country's mail/package service bringing it to your home.

Your US-based address was formatted wrong: the ZIP code doesn't go on a separate line, there are no hyphens in it, and the address must include the state, which you left out. Many cities have the same names in different states. The state can be spelled out or use a standard two-letter abbreviation. (The latter is important; if you don't know it, just spell out the state.) If you don't get the format right, you're left to the mercy of the local post office or the carrier.

Elements like commas or spacing are mostly irrelevant. Still, a properly written address will attract less attention from Customs officers and such.

This is a good sample of an American postal address.

Thank you. I'm not from USA, I didn't know how to type such address.

I was just thinking if foreign workers of UPS are going to understand where the package must be delivered if it going to be in my language than in English

It's hard to say. American delivery workers aren't knowledgeable about other countries' address formats or foreign languages. Write the address in the American format and write it in English, including the city's name, the best way you know. (For example, write "New York", not "Nowy Jork".) Because if the workers can't understand an address, they'll bring the package back to the central office, where it'll be returned to sender, if possible.

Like I said earlier, use the address format of the recipient's country. If you're getting the package in Poland, use the Polish format. If you're getting the package in America, use the American format. The worker in the sender's country simply has to worry about getting the package to the shipping facility, and not much more. The worker in the recipient's country has to worry about getting it to your home, a much smaller, more precise location.
