Lots of chances to die, including disease, childbirth, famine, war, injury, infections and accidents...why kill yourself if you can let nature do it for you.
Also presumably no chronic pain because you would die of hunger if you couldn't walk or work for example

think this is a slightly skewed idea of the middle ages, people did take care of people who couldn't work, maybe more than now. and life expectancy was 70 or 60 if you survived childhood diseases. but there were more diseases, and access to methods that are controlled now.

but might for other reasons.

It wasn't 70 or 80-more like 50 and 60 if you were really lucky

If you think back, anytime you have a disease, strep throat ect. That would have been fatal. No medicine at all ,if you had money maybe you could get some opium. They had the black plaugue to deal with. Untill fairly modern times life was utter hell, im surprised every one dident refuse to breed.

Yes I would like to live in the middle ages actually. Back then life was so much simpler, and most people had tight communities and religious faith. Nowadays, what is the point anymore? People are increasingly isolated. People live to old ages, but lonely and depressed. Society is becoming more secular, and less religious, taking away what comforted us for thousands of years. Now our sufferings make no sense and have no meaning, no promised after life rewards.

What is going on with modern society? Social media and technology are suppose to connect us closer, but instead it creates a bubble around us and isolate us in real life. We are losing touch with one another. Especially as you get out of school, making friends becomes nearly impossible unless you're attractive. Finding a sexual partner is also super hard now due to changing social values and increased competition from dating apps.

I am willing to give away all the modern "comforts", and live a simpler, more social life. Doesn't matter that means I die in my 40s, because I would probably already have grandkids by that age, and religion would give me comfort and meaning to my sufferings, and ease my death with the promise of heaven.

Most infants etc died at child birth. I think if I was in Middle Ages etc I would join the military volunteer for some war. No way in hell I would work the fields my entire life.

When considering that 99% of people back then lived horrific lives, no. But if I could be promised I'd survive disease, famine, oppression, and all the other bad stuff, sure I would like to live back then. There are lives that have been lived that I would like to experience.

If I could be a king, then hell yea I would lol. Just constant feasts and tournaments and wine orgys if I ruled!

No, because then I'd be truly alone. I have no one in real life that I can turn to, no one who I can confide in, no one... Online communities like SS are the only places where I feel like I somewhat belong. When I'm here I don't feel nearly as lonely, and that would be gone if I lived in any era without the Internet.

Depends, what if they agreed with your voices in your head?

Maybe you could become the royal spirit talker to assist the masters in their necromancy research

Haha

Considering my voices often tell me to kill myself, I'd probably end up being part of some ritual of necromancy and still end up at a very literal dead end lol

I like the idea of living a full life till your 20s or 30s, and then dying (probably from some type of illness or infection). I overall liked the first 30 years of my life, and feel that that's quite enough. Time to go. Why experience suffering for the next 60 years?

The trouble is that, like in this life, you'd have no control over the conditions you were born into. They could be wretched, and you could suffer horribly, whether your life was short or long. And the suffering would probably be much greater than what most people experience today.

No but maybe we did. If you think about it, if souls are not re-use, that is a huge number that have been and gone. There must have been some reincarnation at some point?

What everyone decided to become more friendly to other people once their addiction to tech was not supply-able. People would be closer.

I feel like life is too long and programmed the way it is today. For all the advancements humans have made they also are setting themselves up with the ability to nuke everything out of existence
