I'm not going to answer your question directly, instead I'm going to relate what happened to my brother-in-law.
At the time of this incident he was in his late thirties, in a long-term relationship and a pretty happy-go-lucky sort of guy. My then wife and I used to go out with him and his partner every Sunday for a pub lunch somewhere in the countryside.
He was a train driver, a job he really enjoyed, driving a commuter train into and out of London most days.
One day, early in the morning, he was driving his train as usual when out of nowhere someone jumped in front of his train. They were killed instantly unsurprisingly.
To cut a long story short his life fell apart after this. Whilst his employers were understanding and supportive, as we're his union, he never worked again. Always a bit on the heavy side his weight ballooned. He underwent therapy for a while but it didn't really help and eventually he stopped leaving the house altogether. He died of a heart attack at the age of 41, a completely broken man.
