People stranded at sea without freshwater, sometimes give in and drink the salty seawater when dehydrated.

Do you think if you didn't drink water for like 36 hours or more and purposely dehydrated yourself, it would make it easier to swallow the SN solution and keep it down?
Like if you make your body so desperate for water, but you trick it with the SN solution.

You should stop drinking water 2 hours before SN.

It's really not that much you need to drink, and I don't think you need to trick yourself into doing it. I believe a lot of people overthink this part.

Just chugg it like a shot, and it shouldn't be any big deal. The slower you drink it, the harder it'll be to get down.

Hydration level will not make enough difference to merit the discomfort. SN is about oxygen transfer not dehydration.

I know this is my first post but after alot of reading it seems the taste is a worry to people, has anyone ever suggested using a thing called miracle berry/ fruit. Basically you chew one and for a while after it reverses taste buds so makes sweet things sour etc. You can eat a lemon like an orange and it tastes sweet and nice. Just seems like the easiest solution to what seems to be one of the main worries at first.

People drink the sea water out of desperation, they can't survive off it due to the salinity. They do better to drink their own urine.

I know, ew. But it's true.

You can take a straw you sort of mask the taste tho... plus 50 ml of water really is nothing.
Though, if you happen to be someone who drinks high percentage alcohol i think you can handle that...

I'm going to take a flavor enhancer called mberry. You let it dissolve on your tongue, and It tricks your taste buds supposedly.
I was reading customer reviews of it, and it says it makes straight rum or vodka taste like flat soda.
Another customer said it changed the taste of soy sauce where it didn't even taste salty! Bingo.
i'm going to order it, and test it out on regular salt water, See how it reduces the salt taste.

I have seen people suggest this, but I don't know how it would affect the SN, or even if it would affect the SN. Meaning, not that it wouldn't work and change the taste of it, but it might do something else to cause the SN to not work properly. I know there are threads debating this on here though if you search for them. I haven't looked into it enough to know very much about it. I'm going to do what other suggestion & just chug it like a shot. But I'm also going to have a straw just as a back up in case I need it (probably more as a psychological mind trick on myself than anything else). Then I have some peach flavored Ginger lozenges that are for nausea so I thought I would suck on one of those after I took the drink, hopefully killing two birds with one stone.

That's the one I posted about 20 mins ago miracle berry most sites call it. Plent of bids on YouTube of people using it them eating normally nasty tasting stuff. It is certainly a solution if you cannot get past the taste
I can't imagine it would have much effect you just chew the berry for aboout 20 seconds and it does the job on the taste buds. So shouldn't add too much sugar or anything else into your body. But hopefully someone more intelligent then me can answer that one

I don't think it would add much sugar to the body, From what I understand, it's a tablet you dissolve on your tongue. It's definitely not like eating a bag of gummy bears or anything.

I ordered some, and I really wanna try it with salt water just to get an idea. I hope it affects salty. Some sources say it does, some sources say it doesn't. I'll try it for myself and get back with you

I'm also pretty sure it is in like a chewing gum form also so you chew it for a bit then taste something. It was on some talk show and they gave the guests it to chew and some lemons to eat. Can't remember what tho. Could have dreamt it!

This was a good idea, but unfortunately it won't work in this case. SN is salty and the berries only work on bitter tastes.

But I really think this issue is blown out of proportion. The drink is just really, really salty. Unless you have an extreme aversion to salt, it's not nasty, per se.

Good to know, for some reason I associate salty and bitter as being the same.. I know it's not that case but I just think yuck when think o lf either. But I have nompersonal issue bringing salty solutions as some.meds in past have been just gulp it straight to back of mouth and swallow all in one motion and it should touch the side!

Capsules aren't really recommended for multiple reasons, but if you honestly can't stand the thought of drinking/tasting the stuff you could try your luck with them. I see it as an unnecessary step and a lot of extra work, but it's better than nothing if you really must.

Sorry, I misunderstood what you'd written. I thought you were saying you couldn't stand the thought of the taste. I understand now.

Maybe these tablets would work for something like N

Just to add on to the topic of magic berries (lol), but I was going to make a post if anyone had tried/know any problems of using a chloroseptic spray (like the red one for your throat to numb it)

I've seen people come up with the idea, but I don't recall anyone actually saying they did it.

I just don't think it's necessary. It's just salt.

Yeah. It doesn't really affect salty taste :aw: maybe one could try flavored water, but I'm not sure it would be any better

I don't know, it may just be me who finds you get the SN for £10.00 and all the add on's to make it easier to drink, gets a bit costly,
