They bring up many different factors, but it seems that the bottom line is that there are neurobiological differences between the genders. I think this is an interesting topic and I've read much about prevalence. It's tricky, though. There are seldom, if ever, any complete registers, so it's all about estimations.

Not sure because it's very complex and men are more likely to engage in coping behaviours that mask the root pathology, such as drug abuse or externalisation through eg violence. So without going through mountains of evidence I don't know if I can agree that men are less vulnerable to PTSD.

I found it most interesting that different areas of the brain are activated during stress in males vs females.

I have not read this, my brain is too drunk, but I will say, women are more likely to be sexually abused, and so forth, causing a higher rate in females? men I know it CAN happen to, but if you are talking official diagnosed statistics, then women are surely likely to rate higher on that scale? I am just using one example, but maybe I should really read the link?

or manipulated, I am talking someone who has gone through sexual abuse which started in childhood then continued as a adult at various points, resulting in a C-PTSD diagnosis (which I think is bullshit but that's for another thread)
As a child I was easily manipulated, as a teenager I was scared, as a adult I had given up and accepted my path and the abuse as part of my life, PTSD kinda comes into I guess in a professional eye as a natural result.
Yet men can also go through trauma, the veterans out there, gays (no offence meant!) and many others, one of the bastard's who raped me was known as a pedo who only liked boy's....!

I picked that up but don't have the expertise to make sense of it. Except that yeah gender constructionists are deluded.

Scientists are claiming that they also cannot make any sense of their findings in regards to male vs female brain response to stress.

How can we stand taller and make sure we set appropriate boundaries (if we identify with someone who can take less stress than others before PTSD sets in) as women?
