Why I can go through any other time of the year, feel good, and have optimistic outlook but when winter month roll around(primarily January through February) I will become a recluse and not want to do anything? And someone made a comment to me so I now I can't stop thinking about it and feel bad every time I'm reminded. What about you guys? You can relate? It is normal for 24yo male to be upset or is this childish behavior? I would say things that led me to be here but it doesn't justify me being upset as adult male. Maybe I am too fragile for this earth. For now I will sleep and then go for walk once I awake, when it is night. It is one of the few copes that make me feel good.

Could be SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). A lot of people struggle with it, it's not childish at all. To my knowledge, the main ways they combat it is with light therapy (you sit a few feet from a special light box so that you're exposed to bright light within the first hour of waking up each day. Light therapy mimics natural outdoor light and appears to cause a change in brain chemicals linked to mood), psychotherapy, and medications.

For me, winter is yet another of my private hells. I feel cold weather as pain, not simple discomfort. I'll take a hotter than I'd really like summer any time.

It's the opposite for me. I mean, I'm always suicidal, never a minute goes by that I don't wish I was dead, but I hate, and I mean HATE spring and summer.

What the point if it will happen yearly? I tried to prevent this from happening.

Howdy!

I have since day 1 had SAD (seasonal affective disorder), and even at 66 almost 67 it is a HUGE part of me. Thankfully with my position I get to travel to warmer and sunny climates, I live in the Midwest of the U.S., and I have a HUGE light bar at home that I use throughout the winter when I am home. It is on all the time.

You are NOT childish in any way, shape or form. Also, you are NOT frail ever, heavens at your younger age, I bet that you have so many talents and never ever let anyone tell you different. You are a strong and thoughtful person period.

I can remember back in the 1960's, Ya old! that every winter I got headaches, felt crappy and the like, and around 2014, discovered why. It is part of what makes me and now I know how to work with it, and it is a very minor aspect of me now.

I hope that your nap and walk regenerated you as with you being a good friend on SS, I wish only the very best to/for you always.

Walter

I don't think you are too fragile, nor do I think you have childish behaviour. I think you are in good company with those that share your experience. I'm not downplaying how you feel. There may be many reasons why you are going thru this. Working with someone in healthcare may help you understand more.

I'm bipolar and have experienced "cycles" of moods for 30 years. November- February is when I become horrible depressed. It's terrible. I mention this only to let you know I can relate to what's going on with you. I'm not in any way suggesting you're bipolar. Absolutely not. But it seems like something is happening with you. Doctors, psychiatrists and therapists may not always be the answer. But you might want to consider a few appts with someone to see if together you can figure out what's up. I hope you won't stop searching for what's going on. I wish you luck.
