I'm planning on jumping off a lookout tower that's in the middle of a forest, the platform is at 40 meters and I know there's a chance I won't die, if that happens I will still end up dying right, and if so in how long? The tower is isolated enough that even if I call the cops to clear my body before I jump they won't reach me for quite a while and there's no car access, so if I somehow manage to survive the fall I'll have time to die but my question is how long would it take and if I'd even die at all

There are no guarantees. If you aren't dead within the first 15 minutes or so after the jump I would say there's probably a fair chance you'll survive with your injuries unless you die of exposure or something. You are asking for specific answers that don't really exist.

I would look for a better spot. Forest ground might also not be hard enough at 40m height to kill you on impact.

I don't think I'll even get to the 40m one, I'll prolly have to settle for 36m or 34m, the landing surface would be plain dirt, I know that's not the same as concrete but isn't it good enough

If I fall and survive won't my injuries I got from falling kill me eventually? Like there's no way you can live without medical aid for longer than 15 mins after sustaining that kind of impact, is there, I don't know how anatomy works but wouldn't you sustain some kind of internal bleeding that would kill you eventually

As a doctor I can tell you that there are many factors to determine whether you could survive or not, the body is sometimes too strong, sometimes it can last a long time with bleeding but sometimes just one bad blow is enough, nothing is certain.

Agree with above. Too risky (if your goal is absolutely to die).

If you're asking this you're going to live. It's karmic that you'll end up with broken bones and are way more miserable than when you started.

The odds are always stacked against you when it comes to suicide. For every 24 attempts there is one success. That is not a good figure and even if you read about people dying from jumping, you're not reading about those who survive.

If you can't handle that risk, don't do it because the odds are already working against you.

Who knows...you could break both legs and your spine but not rupture any major blood vessels or organs or hit your head too hard. I mean...I think you'll probably more likely die than not from the jump but people have survived much higher falls than that. Is "more likely than not" good enough for you?
