I want to start practicing partial because I feel like I'm going to have to go soon. Will it leave a mark? I have a husband and he would notice right away

If you apply enough pressure it will leave a red mark, if you overdo it on the pressure, you could have a necklace(bruising) for a few days or more.

Yes it will elave a mark if you try to pass out. It would be better to prepare everything and do full suspension, then you will die before anybody would notice your wish to die

Make sure you tighten the knot enough in order not to have bruising. Then the pressure would make red marks but nothing suspocious or which will last.
Source: my practice, last time only a few minutes ago.

The best would be to wrap your neck in some thin fabric AND get some styrofoam and carve two pieces that would press exactly on your arteries. The exact shape is up to your anatomy. This would offload the pressure from other parts of your neck (mainly the front) and concentrate it on the right spots.

That actually seems like a really good idea. To target the carotid arteries better.
Obviously what you use is going to make a difference. A rope is going to leave more of a mark than a rope. But with some padding. And maybe some Vaseline around the neck. It should minimize the marking pretty well. And just if you're paranoid about it. I'm sure some make up/concealer in your skin tone would do the trick.

Yes, it will. Horrible marks that are nearly impossible to hide for a week before they fade.

Also important is the rope: if it's a hemp rope, the rough material will leave some marks (depending on how hard you try or how often you adjust the rope). Been there for myself: I'd recommend a nylon rope for any unwanted marks. (Some temporary pressure marks can't be excluded.)

I just got my static rope yesterday. (awesomeness). And comparing to the padded cotton rope. I can say that the static rope is way better. I can know see why so many people recommended the static rope.

And feel wise it actually feels better around my neck.

Even though the cotton rope was a wider diameter. Since it has way more elasticity. It ends up compressing itself more, becoming thinner.

Opposed to the static rope which has no stretch. So it stays true to its width.

And yeah. Something like Hemp material would probably leave more marks. But if pad it with a double folded hand towel or washcloth, it should work pretty well. Besides marks from pressure itself depending how many times you do it, and how much of your weight your putting on it obviously.

Hanging, whether partial or full suspension, will leave dark red bruises around your neck. The bruises won't be as bad with a partial suspension, as you won't have your full weight pulling down on your neck. They will still be bad, and quite visible. They will clear up a little quicker than if you hang yourself fully suspended. With full suspension, your weight pulling down on your neck will cause the rope to dig into your neck and cause rupturing of blood vessels that are under the skin. With a full-suspension hanging, it could take several weeks for the marks to clear up. The last time I attempted to hang myself (April 19th), my neck had bruises so deep, it took almost two months before they cleared up.
