• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

I guess Nintendo is setting a precedent. 90 euros for the physical version of MK, 80 for the digital.
I have ordered my Switch 2 without MK as a bundle. (Maybe I should change that...) I speculate to buy MK the physical version used for 50-60 bucks physcial after some months. I am not that much into MK anyway.

My friends consider to boycott the console I hope they change their mind. They say there are not many good games for it yet anyway.

I don't buy as many games. And when I buy a game it is usually used and a couple time after it's release. For example I got Paper Mario for 30 bucks and other games for my Switch for 30 bucks and I plan to sell them again one day.

There are speculations GTA 6 will cost 100 bucks. It is insane.

I wonder whether the industry will succeed with this strategy. We are probably on the road for the death of physical games. If there are only digital games I consider to quit. Or buy way less. I played Splatoon 2 and 3 combined 4000 hours I think this is enough to justify my purchase of the Switch.

It would be insane 100 bucks for a game and on top of that DLCs. And that's probably the plan.

It is capitalism. They will charge that much and get away with it because people will whine and complain but ultimately still buy the games and give them money. All these companies care about is profits. Until their CEOs can not by yachts anymore, they will charge whatever they want.

I personally do not feel the need to buy AAA games at release. They are usually full of bugs and disappointing anymore. I have no problem waiting a few years for a Steam sale to pay what I think the game is actually worth. I am also a big fan of indie games which cost $5-$20 and have been very enjoyable.

They will absolutely get more expensive in the future, when Sony raised the price to $70 it was because of the high production cost and the start of the PS5/Xbox Series generation thus all other companies followed and raised their prices to $70. Now that Nintendo has increased the price more to $80 all other companies will follow again.

It's honestly high for one single game. I'm more inclined to wait for price drops and it's worse with Nintendo because their game usually stay at full prices for years and don't drop in price.

they already are. you're one of the many who complains about it yet spends hundreds on their products because you simply want to play their games and finding reasons to justify spending money on an overpriced product. companies are doing this because IT WORKS, because they have plenty enough consumers to gain from to keep setting high prices and will continue to do so as long as enough pay for it.
even if there's a number of people who boycotts these companies using such strategies, the mentality of spending hundreds of dollars over expensive base game prices and DLCs has already become prevalent in this generation of gamers that it wouldn't really matter.

however, there will always be far cheaper or reasonably priced games coming from lesser or non-vampiric companies like nintendo. not all game prices will be burning people's wallets as there are studios that care about the game first, then profit second.

It is true that I buy the console new. However, at least all the games I buy will be used. For me that's a compromise. I will also sell the console and games again afterwards. Nintendo repaired my joycon two times for free. Sony does not do that with the PS5 controller.

If they're doing it, then chances are they're going to be successful with their play. They're not stupid. They will continue to do it so long as people continue to cave in and buy their games anyway. Nintendo fans from what I've seen, will tolerate anything Nintendo does. Likewise, most AAA games now are in unfinished states and lack any soul, and many others exist only to drag you into their battlepass/cosmetics ecosystem, not to be a fun game to play, and STILL people willingly go into that ecosystem and spend hundreds in that ecosystem.

If GTA 6 were priced at $120, it would still be among the top 20 best-selling games of all time. They know enough about consumer psychology to understand what they can get away with.
