I'm looking for something to help anxiety and chest pounding if/when I attempt suicide and I'm wondering if this will work. I am planning on using propanolol for the anxiety and heart rate but IDK if I need benzos instead. I still haven't tried it for a panic attack but it seems to help for anxiety so far. If it works for a panic attack I would assume it would slow the heart to make attempt more peaceful during an attempt too.

I'm really not sure. I've been prescribed propranolol because of severe anxiety, but it doesn't work like a benzo would. It might help you not begin to panic as much, but it won't really calm you down if you're already having a panic attack, like things like ativan or xanax would.

I think the biggest difference between the two is propranolol combats the physical symptoms (you'll still worry, but your heart won't pound, for example) and benzos take out the mental ones plus sedate you. So you just don't care anymore. Maybe, ideally, you'd mix the two for this?

I don't like propranolol as an anxiety treatment. In my experience, it's a crappy substitute. Ativan was always my preference, then klonopin. Now all my doctors avoid prescribing those at all costs.

Oh, so you can't get ahold of benzos either? It's even harder for me because of my suicide attempt but yea that sucks

Yeah, it's becoming more and more difficult. What I have now are leftovers I hoarded from when I did have prescriptions, but now it's mostly their clinic policy to not prescribe benzos at all.

It's stupid, because when I had cancer, they handed out ativan like candy.

Do you know if you can get lyrica for anxiety? My last psychiatrist said you couldn't. And these fuckers always want to prescribe anti psychotics for anxiety which is a bunch of bullshit

They do prescribe it off label for anxiety, but I've never been offered it. I'm not sure why.
I do also get gabapentin for anxiety, but I would not recommend it for this purpose.

I have seen it on online pharmacies I will see if I can find a link. I take beta blockers as holes in my heart that cause tachycardia. I was told an overdose of this would cause bradycardia a very slow heart rate and could cause death but it's rare.
