Why is the forums name SanctionedSuicide?

I'm very glad I found this forum because it might help me end life on my own terms, so this is nothing against the forum itself, but I kept wondering why is it called SanctionedSuicide? The name makes me feel a little uneasy, as if I'm doing something wrong... And I often feel like that, because I have a lot of guilt about being suicidal. Why will you be sanctioned? Or is there something I'm not really getting about the name because English isn't my first language?

I've never really thought about it too deeply but probably because sanctioned has two relevant meanings. One to punish - I guess we all feel punished by our lives and that's driven us down this path. The second meaning can be to permit or allow.. so that could nod to this forum being pro-choice.

I think it could be due to society's erroneous views on the topic. Most social media censure heavily the word anf it is taboo for most people, until ir happens to them or someone close. They see pro election choices as wrong . For them people have to live even if miserable. So the title could imply how little understood we are and how selfish people who don't get it are. Just my perception though.

The founders are clever on this. It's like a defense mechanism by naming our self "hated" or "wronged" while we lowkey insist our action is based on love and compassion. I notice this when FT26 and NYT brought up hashtag #stopSANCTIONEDsuicide without deep thinking, which implies #startACCEPTINGsuicide

It is called SanctionedSuicide as sanctioned can mean to approve of something and this forum respects suicide as an option and sees it as a rational solution to end suffering.

You shouldn't feel a lot of guilt or any at all about being suicidal. Sanctioned to me means enacted with a special purpose. There is nothing wrong about empowering yourself with the acknowledgement you could end your life at any point.
