I'm a 19yo female with a sub-90 IQ and no diploma. I am literally the best choice for a low-end minimum wage job. PLEASE! I'll do anything! I'm just bored out of my mind! Why won't they hire me? I keep getting rejection letters from places like grocery stores, what am I doing wrong???? What is someone like me supposed to do?
In addition to sending online resumes, call, email or show in person to follow up with the resume, show enthusiasm and good attitude about working, it makes you harder to ignore. A personal expression of interest from a real human being makes a difference.
Also, my first job at your age and circumstance was as a dishwasher. Consider one of the less desirable jobs at a restaurant like that, so that you get experience. If you really make the effort with those follow ups as I described, I think you will eventually succeed.
Not to be dismissive of many people, but I feel like many people are complaining it's impossible to get a job when all they're doing is spamming resumes to websites.
Get creative about where you find the job. You have a better shot if you happen to be eating somewhere with a hiring sign and striking up a chill conversation with the manager than if you're just a faceless resume on indeed.
But also consider this- joining the workforce sucks anus. Consider just putting it off, unless you really need the money. I think being unable to find a job might have to do with the fact that work is not a desirable thing that one would really want to seek out.
If you want motivation to work- I'll give you some that wasn't obvious to me when I first sought out a job- 1) It will help your social skills 2) Having coworkers is a hugely under rated shortcut to friends/relationships 3) Even though it takes effort to have a job, it'll improve your mental health because it's better than sitting still, rotting at home. You'll come to enjoy the routine and effing around at work.
You'll be alright, best of luck to you.
