Why is it so hard to die

Just want to stop thinking and be unconscious. Never signed up for life. Why is it so hard to die.

At least in my case it's because the more peaceful methods are not easily accessible and there is the fear of something going wrong if I tried to attempt, causing me to just experience more suffering.
But in general, even know we want to be gone all humans are programmed to survive meaning that it can be difficult to leave this life behind and finally be free from it all. But your feelings of wanting to escape are understandable. Permanent non existence where we are not even aware that we are dead sounds ideal. All of our pain and problems are instantly gone and instead there is true peace for all eternity. I've always wanted to die, in fact there is nothing more comforting. The existence of life really is a horrifying mistake.

Because this planet is a prison and you are not meant to leave until you've spent enough time working until you drop dead in the Gulag - that's the contract you signed when you were born whether you signed it willingly or not. We are also biologically programmed to choose live over death for the same reason: This place needs worker bees and the hive requires you to stick around for its own survival. Millions of us would drop dead like a bunch of bees falling from the sky if we could but instead, we are ruled by fear and the unknown and yet apparently we have "free will" which in my opinion is an illusion to fool the slave into thinking he or she is free.

I also suspect the higher power which designed us (not God, just a higher form of intelligence who designed us to become its most efficient slave/worker bee), realised that millions if not billions of us would be miserable and suffer on this planet to such an extent that we would prefer not to exist so there needed be a built-it safe proofing of re-occurring natural genocides particularly as the planet became less habitable as it will in the 21st century. I believe the Ego is just software installed in every one of us by a higher power to protect our operating system from shutting itself down for good. I think we are biological computers and according to this higher power, a human who is infected with suicidal thoughts and realisations of its true slave existence has a virus. But the Ego is there to wipe out this virus and in most cases, it is successful.

Not in my case however, my Ego is dead. I killed it so I can kill myself.
