Why does ctb without leaving a note make me feel so much better than the alternative?

I think I get what you mean. I often feel like, if people truly did care they'd just let me go without making a fuss. What do you say to people - do you tell them what they want to hear? A bunch of hollow platitudes and sweet lies. Should you be brutally honest to the people who are probably part of the reason why you felt this way in the first place? I don't know about you, but I don't think I'll ever be able to tell my mother the truth.

You aren't alone in that feeling, OP. I, personally, feel that leaving a note just isn't for everyone and may only compound the suffering of the person leaving it. But, I also feel there are times/circumstances when a note would be appropriate. Such as if you have a child that's too young to understand.

Yeah a note does add to the suffering. I can't identify why though.

My parents would feel sad and devastated not knowing what's become of me though. I resent them for being my main obstacle to freedom.

I mean I dont know any backround about you, you wont answer my messages, but maybe its the shame of divulging anything to your family? Maybe you like to be private with your life? Or maybe just feel an impulse to end it all because you suffer so badly and you dont want to bother with notes and wills?
Personally I have a ridiculously detailed suicide note and will. Like 6 pages long. Im actually going to update it this week.
