When I watch youtube it makes me so frustrated to see those ads with "AloneTogether" or "withme" as if only people who became alone after the pandemic mattered. I know some people haven't seen their friends for months, but what about people who've always felt alone and suicidal? Where was the support then?? Dunno why but it makes me feel even more alone after watching celebrities posting "withme" videos because they've always had people to rely on and good friends to text. Feel free to delete this because I'm just ranting on stuff lol

Exactly. I'm also about to work in the healthcare profession, have been on a two year waiting list for psychotherapy because there are no resources and now theyre talking about all the healthcare workers getting access to therapy when this is all over. Not that I think they don't need it, but I've had significant repeated trauma since I was a child and clearly COVID trauma is more important. I probably sound like a douche, but I'm so angry that it will be likely my psychotherapy will be delayed even longer now.

I think I get it. I hardly process the "#alonetogether" rhetoric at this point. It's so irritating. Those damn normies are at it again.

Seeing how quickly people crumbled under the physical isolation when I've been doing it for years was a really dark schadenfreude. I'm not looking forward to the general population thinking they're all experts on isolation because they spent a few months not able to get out much.

Lockdown for me is better than Christmas. I feel less alone knowing that other people are struggling with being home, whereas at Christmas time everyone is at home and they are acting all happy families, which is typically the worst time of year for me.

I think the message is a diversion to make the average* person feel good about and more willing to go along with the current social engineering efforts being enacted on a global scale. Along with the "new normal." That is, wearing masks, social distancing, limited physical contact, limits on the sizes of social gatherings, etc. It's an Orwellian message.

*Please forgive my use of the word average. I know it can set off knee-jerk reactions. I'm not trying to stir up the discontent with "normies" or with not being able to be a "normie," just trying to point out who I think the message is directed at, and for what purpose.

P.S. @nnnerve, I wrote this comment before I saw yours. The note wasn't directed at you! It was an acknowledgement of things commonly expressed on this forum.

So many quotations of normies. Like you aren't one of us. You're such an elevated life form.

This.

My favorite is the people screaming about how unbearable it is going two months without sex. Bruh try being a virgin at 30.

Cuz people don't care about quality of life, it's all about the quantity of life today........Pro-lifers have won and dominate/lord over the population!!. @GoodPersonEffed - i agree, it seems rather Orwellian what is happening today with the Covid 19. On a side note- I even would go to believe- possibly those masks cut off oxygen to the brain- I don't think that's going to help matters!...lol

Simple answer to your question is cos it's easier. Like most things in life. Most people tend to do what is easy - in this case being ignorant to people's loneliness and suffering before the pandemic. Why worry about it. Too much effort.

Agreed. I have had to have a conversation with my very different to me sociable parents where they keep moaning about not going out (they are over 70). They seek to think something has actually changed in my life. I keep saying that my lifestyle and social contact hasn't changed. The same conversation goes on every day! They attacked me for saying I would have loved it two years ago when I was working (at least for a time before realising the economy was going to go down and obviously I don't want people to die). "But I loved going to work. I liked socialising with people and getting promotions". As a very introverted person it would have been fantastic for me to have a break from work. Socialising was hurtful only and promotion as a shy person was impossible. I just did all the work with no credit and was forced out for being depressed. I feel more lonely in company than I ever do alone. And, yes, we will be pushed aside for any treatment despite looking for it for years because people are temporarily lonely and in the UK at least they can treat them easily and get a better KPI rating and a new NHS contract.

I completely agree with you. nowhere on social media or tv anywhere have I seen any thoughts for all those people to whom 'lockdown' is actually just a way of life. I was so irritated by even my friends saying 'I'll be so glad when all this is over we can go out again' etc etc' knowing full well I haven't been out properly for years. I always spare a thought every day for those people who are unable for whatever reason, whether it be mental or physical, to lead a normal active life outside of the home. I am sick to death of people on social media on YouTube on TV everywhere all the time coming up with all of these 'lockdown activities' to do such as painting/singing /video meetings/video yoga/blah blah blah and talking about how different the world is and how people can't cope with being isolated at home or are just plain bored. I want to scream and shout at them all!
