I've always wanted to sit at the cool table!

Yeah, there are some people who are intolerable online, but it's much easier to ignore them.

I find online people intolerable once I see a photo of themselves attached

Its not physical but its certainly as real as anything else. I think its more tolerable because there aren't really any consequences to choosing to leave a conversation at any point or straight up blocking people. IRL you got be more careful and its harder to take a moment to yourself if somebody pisses you off.

Basically what weedoge said, there are loads of annoying people online but it's much easier to choose who and what you interact with.

But you mentioned, Volatile, that seeing a physical representation of them changes it for you - so I imagine also the layer of abstraction helps in your case. It has fewer of the negative associations that interacting with humans in the flesh does.

For some reason,I'm more able to tolerate insults, rudeness and/or stupidity on the internet than when face-to-face with someone. The latter just feels a lot more personal to me.

In a weird way, I think many people act more like their true selves online because they are behind a computer screen and will say crap to you that they wouldn't say to your face. I seen it the other way around as well. Do you think what your feeling may be related to social anxiety or depression?

"I seen it the other way around as well."

Can you elaborate on this? Sorry, I'm having brain fog.

Personally I feel I'm pretty close to my real self online but some people definitely try to hide their worst parts. I was friends with a guy years ago who seemed really nice and caring online but as soon as we met in person I realise he was an extremely stressful and demanding person. He had some serious issues that weren't obvious at all before we met. We're not friends anymore because he tries to manipulate me while we were tripping together.

That's what I figured they meant but I wanted to make sure.
