As I'm typing this the current amount of "guests" (lurkers) browsing this site is more than 20 times higher than the current amount of logged-in members.

Why are there always such a huge amount of lurkers here ?

My guess (as someone who used to be a lurker) is that its either that some people just come here seeking information on methods and not community, so they leave once they've found what they're looking for, or they may just be too shy to interact with anyone. I think as much as one may want to talk or reach out, it can be very nerve wracking to take the plunge (speaking from expirience lol)

Maybe the most suicidal people are the lurkers. Perhaps most of them just visit the site to choose a random CTB method and immediately execute it with no second thoughts without anyone knowing about it. It's a bit haunting

We must remember that it's still a taboo and seem as shameful to talk about suicide in most countries, so perhaps some people are only looking for methods or justifications to ease their willing to die and not feeling as weirdos for thinking so.

Afraid that the forum may have been a honeypot ?

Yeah makes sense.
I think many of them are bots.
It's very possible as well, but having more than 4000 bots on the same site at all times is crazy

Never thought it is honeypot. I was afraid of revealing ng myself to be honest. But as my thoughts progressed towards ctb i decided that i need as much info as i can get.

Also im trying to find some stuff and i think as registered user it will be a lot easier.

I have some irrational fears but i broke one of em.

And there's also the fear of being traced, of this forum being watched by authorities and IPs traced (at least I had some of that fear).
But yeah, I guess most is people that just came looking for information or that feels that they don't have anything valuable to say (you probably have though).

Maybe they find our posts entertaining, or in terms of info gathering sufficient enough to not have to join. Or worse but possible, maybe they are underage. Or maybe some members don't log in when they don't feel like posting?

I lurked for a long time, until I had the means (good VPN, secure browser) to feel reasonably private, and to send crypto to help support the site. I didn't become a member until then. I think at least some lurkers are law enforcement (looking at you, UK), investigators, parents, researchers, media looking for something sensational. Whenever and wherever online, never expect full permanent privacy, the internet simply doesn't work that way.

I was a lurker for several months. It's not that easy to create such an account (I mean, psychologically).

None are bots; you can tap "Members online" and it shows you a breakdown of numbers of members, guests, and bots on separate tabs—the total number of bots aren't counted in this total.

Damn that's true. I didn't even know
Some of them are labelled as bots though
How come some of them have access to the chat and I still don't 😭

I found this site when I became desperate again and just started seeking information. At some point I noticed how many people out there are friendly and kind and simply wanted to interact with them.

Of course, there was a privacy concern. I already got good enough VPN and use it all the time on the net, but still there was a sense of danger joining the community and beginning to write something. I'm kind of tech guy, so this was concerning.

But I was somewhat reassured by the fact that SaSu is pretty obscure in my country(?). It also gives me a space to vent safely.

I am not sure whether all guests are humans. There are bots that are labelled as bots officially. But how reliable is this?
To be fair I have no clue about IT but other people on here talked about this theory. It could fit to regular DDOS attacks.

Imagine yourself walking into a party full of strangers. Kinda like that. Now, if you are autistic as an example of possible lurkers here, then the fear is heightened.
