I'm sure a lot of us have heard the following: "Have you tried _______?" Yeah, I've tried a lot. I've tried exercise, medication, therapy, music, etc. Even if I have tried everything under the sun to "fix myself" it doesn't change my memories or view of the world. It doesn't change the fact that suffering is guaranteed in life no matter what and maybe I just don't want to suffer anymore. I feel that I have suffered enough, so why should I continue? For other people? Other people that do nothing to make me want to live?

Why do we view death as such a horrible thing... I view life the way that many people see death. I think death is misunderstood as much as life is. I find it hard to believe that people wake up everyday and feel positively towards living. I envy those that peacefully go to bed one day and never wake up, and I wish that I could give my life to somebody who wants it.

I agree, ghost...a lot of us live in a culture with a very unhealthy attitude toward death. I love watching things about "primitive" cultures who celebrate death and view it as something as natural as breathing. Hopefully, if I have to do another tour of duty here when I'm done with this meatsuit, I'll get to come back as a part of one of those.

We're raised to think that every problem needs a socially-accepted resolution. Choosing to die is not one of them. It sucks.

I've explained it over and over to multiple therapists and it's like talking to a wall each time. Each time I talk about my issues--my experiences, they completely disregard how I feel and instead redirect it to how other people would feel instead. It's exhausting. I agree that death is misunderstood and people are so averse to the concept of dying that they fail to accept that maybe others don't feel the way they do about life.

I should watch some videos on that, it seems very interesting! Hopefully our society will change and start to see death in a different light... Death is only really a tragedy if the person's life was a net positive in their own eyes

Its just unfounded pessimism lol. None of us really know what happens after death, it could be amazing. Why do so many people just automatically assume its a bad thing? I never have understood it lol

That is very true, unfortunately! I'm so sorry that your experiences with your therapist have been so unhelpful. Censorship and invalidating feelings definitely does not belong in therapy. I agree, I think a lot of people consider that "life is worth living" is an axiom and anybody who disagrees with that is defective and illogical in some way.

Right?! I think religion has had a massive impact on our view of death, like if you "sin" you go to Hell and suicide is often considered a "sin." I'm an atheist so personally I am more inclined to believe that death is just eternal nothingness. From a religious person's POV I can definitely see how death can be viewed negatively

Yes!! This post perfectly articulates how I feel. Why are we so obsessed with life? What's the big deal? We live in a monotonous world where life happens to us, you know? It's like that quote, "by a car to go to work, go to work to pay for the car." Nothing has meaning in life so what's the problem with ending it all?

I feel this! Like it's really not that serious, considering that death is guaranteed anyways..
