Why is everyone so secretive about sources and information? Aren't we all here to help each other ctb expeditiously and as peacefully as possible? You all speak as greedy Scrooge trying to protect the treasure map to his loot from perceived backstabbing hoodlums: "Got my benzos today... Glad I found a reliable source for myself... Wish you all good luck in finding your own..." "Got my first look at the newest, latest version of the PPH just released today... All sorts of updated, useful, critical information... Good luck finding your own copies..." What gives?

I can see why things are a little hidden. Mostly it is to weed out NPC pro-lifers as @Euthanza said, although it likely fails to wipe the more dedicated idiots with the savior complex.

This forum can be confusing, I understand your frustrations. I feel sorry for all of the desperate people who come on here only for method information only to suffer more struggling to find info about methods. It seems like a lot of things on here are written in acronyms. It would be helpful if people could openly talk about methods but after all we live in a pro life society where everything in relation to suicide is censored. In an ideal world we would all be able to get euthanasia and then there would be no need for suicide forums. I hate how we live in a world that makes it as difficult for us to die as possible.

This forum is public. Mentioning sources openly on here has resulted in those sources being shut down. That's the sad reality of it. Members on here have also been scammed. There are good people on here but not everyone is genuine.

i doubt he has to deal with world wide laws. hes one person that lives in one place and has one set of rules to follow. we are many people, that live in many places, with many different rules to follow.

also just to add although you probably already know, in some cases (LE, MH, and disorders) its just a quick way to write it, nothing special, nothing hidden, just easier

I experienced this when I was a newer member, but now people are more helpful. I totally understand your fustrstions though. Usually people pm sources through DMS, even to newer members if they make a thread. I'm very greatful for those folk. We all deserve a way to end our misery humanely.

Some want a bunch of info in order to share a source so keep that in mind. But don't share anything you don't feel comfortable with. I had a guy pretty much ordering me through DMS to share my entire life story and reason to CTB to get a source+ my country and a bunch of other info, but another member just sent it to me without asking me a bunch of personal questions.

wow. i can understand questions to a certain point. making sure your not LE, for their own moral purposes like maybe theyre not comfortable helping certain people, but at some point it crosses a line into privacy problems

There are good people on this forum, but also a lot of people who act in the ways you described. Things to keep in mind: law enforcement and pro lifers are absolutely here trying to create division and doubt. Another thing that not many bring up, many people here also have severe mental health issues. This is not a judgement on my part, but it does explain some of the behavior.

Yeah, it's sad though that pro livers have made us act like hounds for sources.

I really need benzos now for my SN, but it's probably going to take joining a drug addict discord or something and sifting through responses. Sigh.

I really feel for the less tech savvy people who don't know how to research in hole-in-the-wall places on the internet. It's hard even for me.

It is for safety reasons. There is enemies in every corner, always there is hyenas (aka saviors so called) looking to eat whatever is there available. They don't like people choosing for themselves.

Actually, I've wondered about the 'assisting' thing myself. It's illegal to assist suicide in my country (possible 14 years in jail I've just read). I wonder if directing someone to a source would be classed as assisting. Kind of think it unlikely they would go after you for this but I don't know... Imagine a very angry and bereaved family might look for anyone to blame- so I can understand why people aren't allowed to share sources on the open forum.

Plus, I imagine there are constantly people campaigning to get sites like this shut down. If sources were advertised openly, I imagine they would have greater cause in succeeding.

All it needs to get a source shut down is one email from a pro-lifer saying that it's being used to CTB and they'll take SN for example off the shelves or add restrictions like selling to schools only

It's frustrating for sure. I don't think anyone enjoys sources having to be secretive and protected. As many other people said, it's so those sources continue to exist. It's not really a choice anyone is making so much as everyone is working with what we have.
