How many here do them? They're kind of a tradition in my family. (I have quite a large extended family.) Partly perhaps because we don't see each other. It's one of the only ways we keep in touch. Literally, it's been over 24+ years since I saw some of them!
It's such a waste really too- isn't it? Not exactly environmentally friendly. I don't blame people opting for emails. Plus, it's crazy expensive.
I have to do mine soon. I'll probably force myself to do them now. Life's so full of chores. It's pathetically agonizing. Anyone else forcing themselves to do them? Maybe I should get drunk... Make my writing more and more illegible as I go.
It used to be even worse when new people started to send them. Work colleagues, new neighbours. Like FFS. Not more! I'm such a Scrooge!
Who here likes all this Christmas stuff? Writing cards, wrapping presents? Does anyone?
Actually, that reminds me. When I used to work in retail, this guy would come in each year, literally last minute gift buying. It was obvious he detested it. Each year, he would seem that little bit more drunk! One year, he was in over two days buying the same stuff because I think he said he'd left the first lot on a bus! Poor guy. I admired him for still making the effort though. I don't know. Is it good to make an effort or, do you suppose it's better to just be honest? I try to agree not to do Christmas presents with family now. It's stupid. We barely know one another now. We just end up buying shit the other person doesn't need or want.
