I am sorry if it's a weird question, I am not familiar with these proceedings in the US. If I am found in a hotel, the law inforcement will be notified, but how do they know who to deliver the news to about my passing? Do they just look at my registered address and go there to tell whoever is there? This is probably stupid, but if I leave a phone number in a note and ask to call and notify about my passing, would they do that? What is the standard procedure, does anybody know? I guess I just want to have an idea of how my boyfriend and my family will get the news. Thanks in advance.

I was thinking it's a good idea. Although my driver's license has the old address on it, but I updated it with DMV, so it should be correct in their record.

I assume the same way that a hospital would notify people if you had a heart attack and went to the ICU. I'm not sure what that way is, but it exists.

I think the police would try to notify somebody quickly because they'd have to identify the body and there's a window of investigation to verify whether it was truly a suicide.

I plan to leave my ID and phone numbers of my husband and parents.

I've heard that sometimes they will notify your next of kin in person (if they just have an address) or by phone. I'm assuming that if you leave numbers they will do it over the phone.

1. Person finds your body.
2. depending on the method, and if you're able to be identified, (leaving an ID) it would be the police who would do a housecall by the way, not over the phone to tell them the news of your passing. This will change depending on your method. With jumping off the Golden gate bridge, it should be the coroner or the police. Probably the police
3. Once identified, they have a full database of where you have lived and currently live including SSN number
