I think kids can be pretty cruel and some parents are really stupid. Some of them give their kids stupid names which are then an easy target of mockery. One should never give a pun as a name or shit like that. I mean this should be obvious but some parents seemingly do not understand basic shit like that. Very outdated names should also be avoided. Then there are also names which are associated with negative traits. I think there are studies that certain names can lead to worse marks in school. There is a saying in my language "Kevin is no name it is a diagnosis." Studies have shown that teachers give worse marks for kids with the name Chantal, Mandy, Justin, Maurice or Kevin in Germany. This might sound strange for people from other countries. But names which sound foreign are often stigmatized. I think the name Kevin and Chantal is not that seldom in the US. But in my country Germans with these names are often the target of cruel mockery.
There is a huge list in my country which names are (rightfully) forbidden. Though I found a list of names which were accepted by German institutions. Champagna, Pepsi-Carola, Tarzan, Popo (translation: bum/bottom) etc.
I think this question might be interesting because people from different countries give different answers. I could imagine children with the name Dick are often mocked in the US.
Life can be so cruel. And some parents damage their kids so much. It is so unfair.
