Which experiences did you have in mental health related telegram and discord groups?

I think I would never join them. I am highly skeptical of them. It is too risky to get idenfitifed in my opinion. But different people, different opinions on that.
I am not sure whether I would trust discord or telegram with my data.

But the actual reason I am skeptical is this story.

There are people who search for vulnerable people in closed telegram or discord groups. They extort people into committing suicide. They get nudes of them in order to blackmail them. Then they force mentally unstable people to hurt their pets, attack other people and eventually to kill themselves. This is the 764 community. They rightfully get fed'ed but there are still some similar groups on the internet. They also used blackmailed mentally ill people to get new victims. Sometimes they force the people to self-immolate. It is a sick world out there.

I never was in a discord or telegram group I didn't know. So I cannot say how well groups are moderated. But it is easy to persuade people into joining unmoderated groups. And people on here are probably popular targets. There was one person who wanted my phone number I declined and this person turned out to be a bad apple. Another person wanted to talk to me over discord I declined and this person turned out to be a bad apple too. The vast majority of people I talked to were genuinely good people. But always when people wanted me to change the platform I turned skeptical. Why should this be necessary?

That group you mentioned in your other thread I knew about and there was another group with 70k people (also in germany) that used to share filmed videos of sexual assault or depictions in how they sexually assaulted women; their wives, daughters, friends.

Sometimes I wish I could research the effects of a prolonged exposure to a 3000 degree flame and what it does to the human face, it's very important to know moving forward as a species, we'll cross the galaxy dummies! What if we get too close to the stars, we need to know how to combat heat exposure when applied to the human face! And I think I need just about 70000 people, wonder where I could get them.

I feel like these sort of things are kind of all the same and too much like using dating apps. You know, when you get a match and the person who matches you says, "hey I'm not on here as often but I'd like to talk more on WhatApp..." or some other service. Like, they meet you somewhere and immediately want to go somewhere else to "talk better." It's nonsense.

If the place where you literally just met is insufficient to have initial conversations to decide if you even like talking to them, then why are you there? It starts to feel like a person is only in one place to meet people to try and immediately isolate them on some other place for possibly nefarious things.

Maybe Telegram and Discord are perfectly fine... but then if they are, why is the person on here trying to drag people over there? It's also like... hanging out in a neighborhood just to catch people walking out their door and yelling at them "hey, there's a cool party a couple of blocks over. Come over there!" But, my brain says, if that party is so cool why are you hanging out in this cul de sac trying to talk others into it being cool instead of just being over there?
