In a house....unfortunately, being ashes blown into the sea in the UK would be my preferred destination for living though

I remember typing Canada in one of those textboxes. I don't know what happened. I apologize.

I'm a sucker for statistics, so thank you @sleepy dog for posting this poll. The larger the sample, the more conclusions may reasonably be assumed, so I hope that the current number of 67 respondents may triple or quadruple - maybe more.

I'm curious about the distribution of us members in the world.

Mmm. Maybe. All the poll does at present is show a distribution of self-selecting respondents who choose to react to the poll, and there isn't really much you can do to alter that.

On a related tack, I think it would be very helpful if all registered members would include their country (and state for US) in their profiles, as this can significantly alter the way in which a reply to queries should be expressed. My contributions, inevitably, are UK-centric, and there is little point to me banging on about, say, the UK legal position on SN, in response to a question from Peoria, Illinois.

Westerners are commiting more suicide in the last decades.
Maybe our society has gotten far too demanding and exigent of us? Maybe our standards have gotten to high? Maybe we are expecting too much of people? Maybe not all of us can keep up the pace? The ones that can't correspond to these demands and social standards prefer to "jump out of the boat" instead of being bottom feeders.... I certainly do. Even though they are my standards, i guess they are the same as everyone else's so they're social standards.

Ex-elitist here. Can confirm. I looked down on plenty of people that I deemed to be inferior to me; I also led a voice acting group had more than 160 members. Being exiled means that I can no longer assume a leadership role where I got to decide if someone is worthy or not. That's just how it is if you have an elitist mindset.... being so acerbic could eventually bite you in the ass and cause you to lose everything. When it backfires, you'll have nothing left.
