I think that you need a few more comments in threads, and then if people allow it the option should show up by clicking on someone's profile picture.

Other than posts, you must have a certain number of hours of registering on the forum. you can take a look at the rules, they can answer these questions and it's always good to know them

I'd say just participate in the forum, not only with posts but just by browsing, too. PMing and searching will come eventually. However, I frankly find that it's great that people must wait for these features as it greatly reduces the number of those from harming us and our community who wish to.

PMing easily wouldn't make much or any difference in regards to harming others.

Why would you want to PM someone already? Maybe, spend some more time here before you start messaging people.

PMing is a private thing. Most people want to be asked in the public forum if someone can PM them anyway and making sure someone is a legitimate user who cares about the forums is important and to many, this means seeing that you've not only been here a while but are participating.

There are many who will make an account just to PM people for sources, only to report those sources and get them removed, thus harming the people here in the process and removing their agency and choice to die. People on here have to be careful and I'm sorry if this is frustrating for you and I, too wish it didn't have to be this way, but it does for the integrity of the forum. It's a small measure that can help users to see who cares and is genuinely interested in this cause.

I was able to as well, but for me, that's because I read and participated in the forums.
