I don't get out of bed or eat anymore unless I absolutely have to. Nowadays, everything just becomes another thing I don't do anymore. I'm so tired of having to walk to the store and look at buildings and people.

I'm really sorry. I've had that before… I wanted to slit my throat 1000 times in that period.

I'm pretty much just coping by reading an endless stream of the most shocking and horrific content I'm able to find. It's a good source of pain to focus on.

Yes, I definitely felt that today. Brushed my teeth, washed my face, ran a brush through my hair a few times. I think having experienced painful dental problems and getting them fixed is a huge motivator to keep brushing my teeth.

How do you think it works? I also have done that sometimes

No matter what happens I try to brush my teeth and take 2 showers a day. I've had times where I neglected that and I felt worse so now I also know better.

The depression/sadness/dread makes people want to conserve energy.
We work on effort and reward cycles. For an ordinary person, doing these regular activities is easy because it brings a significant improvement in their day (as a reward ) . For a depressed person the improvement in gloominess might not be worth the effort put in . Even if you feel better , you are still in the "gloomy" category after these activities , that's how the brain thinks .
