Breakfast of Champions. It's profound, cynical, funny, sensitive, sad, tragic, relatable. And it has pictures of assholes and WIDE OPEN BEAVER !
:))

Agreed. Just about anything Vonnegutt is amazing.

My personal favorite book is House of Leaves.

If it had to be fiction, then I'd probably go with the Foundation series by Isaac Asimov.

Currently, I prefer popular science books:

Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond - maybe a bit dated now, but a fascinating insight into how the human race evolved

Also, Bad Pharma and Bad Science by Ben Goldacre. Great information on the evil practices of the pharmaceutical industry.

Sorry I couldn't choose one.

The Subtle Knife. Because Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy was something I enjoyed in childhood and still enjoy now.

Stormlight Archive, Mistborn and Skyward, all by Brandon Sanderson. Reason are that they have great world building, are very imaginative and fun to read. SA and Mistborn have great magic systems as well.

I am currently in the progress of reading Wheel of Time.

Sorry. Don't get the reference. Kurt Vonnegut?

I'm too old for that book :shy:. Someone did tell me the ending though, so no point reading it now.

yeah, I was replying to the guy who has it as his signature but my network is really stuttery so my posts kinda just land wherever they fall (i usually continue typing and pushing buttons even while my network is hung and my phone does not like that).

That's how I feel about A Little Princess. So nostalgic for me.

My favorite that just makes me happy and I read over and over again is Anne of Green Gables. I'm 26 and will never stop loving those books.

Also The Ground Beneath Her Feet by Salman Rushdie because it's written with such prose; just basic sentences sound like a poem almost.

Almost anything by CS Lewis. Love him as an author.

My favourite book just happens to be whatever I am reading at the time. Currently reading Wrath of the Old Gods series which is very enjoyable so far. I read for distraction and escapism. Factual material is not something I am able to stay with for very long, so I tend to steer clear of it if possible.

When I was a kid in the 90s/early 00s I collected goosebumps books :)) I loved some of those books so much! I still remember a lot of them.

I just remembered one I have not read in years, but is possibly the funniest book I have ever read. Wilt by Tom Sharpe, hilarious read if you want something to laugh at.
