Before becoming a member I lurked on SS for a long time. It has become somewhere that challenges perceptions and beliefs that I internalized and helped expand my understanding of life and who I am. So many members on here have been incredibly kind and though I don't talk quite as much here as I wish I did (especially as of late with concerns of being doxxed somehow) I read each of your posts. I see the comments and I appreciate the support and community that has been built here. I know there is a lot of turmoil happening and I don't have any answers but I am wishing all of you the best too. I don't know what our futures hold but I am grateful for how this place has contributed to who I am now.

This sites the most important one to me as of right now. I feel like this place serves as a real life purgatory before death. Life has lead you down a bad path and now you find yourself here, about to become one with the void.

I'm sure we've all encountered the incredible stigma and just generally people's revulsion surrounding mental health issues — sadly, that doesn't seem to exclude professionals trained and paid specifically to deal with them. It's so, so comforting to have a place like this where honest expression is completely understood and not judged at all, whether that comfort helps us ease our own exits or just chalk up another day. Tragic that the stigma and revulsion have led to this community being vilified and attacked… no matter what challenges any of us here may pose for ourselves or those around us in our real lives, all I've encountered are beautiful souls in incredible pain, trying to help each other out any way they can
