Let's say you are late 20s, you are suffering from a progressive disease in your legs for which there are only two cures: surgery and injections. You already had both and both of them didn't help. The disease is not hereditary. You have had it for 3 years and for a year it has been worse, and for the last three months you can barely leave the house because your feet hurt so bad, even whilst sitting. In most cases surgery helps, and the problem goes away forever. You had the surgery 4 mths ago on one foot and now it doesn't function properly. Your other foot still has the disease and on most days you are in severe pain. You think that in 2-3 years you will be in a wheelchair if this goes on. Your reaction to the surgery was some kind of rare freak reaction and now no doctor knows what do with you. You are very close with your family and partner, and the partner earns well. He says he will die without you. You are racked by guilt and just don't know what to do- Your family is begging you not to die but they won't refer you to psychiatry or anything like that. You have been unemployed for a year, and you don'T know where you can work.
What do you do?

I would try and give it 1 year before I ended up in a wheelchair and unable to CTB. I'm sorry you're suffering so much.

I'm so sorry for your situation. I would wait, but how long is up to you. Your threshold may be one month or it may be 10 years.
I have debilitating widespread pain and fatigue. Actually my feet now hurt too. It resulted from a surgery for a small localized chronic pain problem. (or it is unassociated and I have some other disease doctors haven't figured out. who knows). I've reached my personal limit and plan to leave within a few months. But I also don't have a partner and my parents suck. So I can't speak to that situation.
If your life is torture, I don't think you should have to stick around for your partner. He should understand that.

I chose die now. I am in a similar situation minus the family. Having little to no quality of life from a severely painful, progressive disease with no cure is torture and cruel. Wish I could tell you the answer to solve it but I can't answer it myself.

I'm not discrediting you, but I have to say, my grandmother has it pretty bad. She's in her late 40's (yeah she's not my biological gramma, so she's very young) and she's lived with that shit, ten times worse, all over her body, since she was like 30-32. She's VERY strong, and I know not all of us are, but she's going to need a wheelchair soon and as much as that hurts her to realize, she's hanging in there.

She's still aspiring to travel the world and get a motor home and start a small business. Those aren't the dreams she had for herself when she was younger. She had to adapt to the bullshit life threw at her, and she's a fuckin warrior queen.

It hurts her to even breathe sometimes. I don't know how she does it.

I picked live, obviously, but maybe I'm just stupid.
