Suicide has existed throughout human history. Some of us do not have the emotional and intellectual equipment or the physical strength to cope with a lifetime of troubles and choose to die. Life is a personal responsibility. We must each decide for ourselves. The most important of our civil liberties is the right to govern our own lives, what happens to our bodies including the right to choose to die.
When life will be unbearable suffering, death and suicide will come to mind as a way of release. No one really wants to die because we are programmed to live. But nobody can escape death. Sooner or later life is drawing to a close and it has to be faced. Death can be scary. It can be scary to die alone.
What will you do the last day of your life? Visit a church and talk to a priest. Take a walk in a park. Maybe you want to write a suicide note. Whether you are religious or not, following prayer can be appropriate to read aloud before you die:
