As I´ve read a couple of discussions about hanging as a method I´m considering using it myself, so I´m wondering if there are any no-go types of ropes or a type that is superior in terms of material?

As far as I know the rope is supposed to be thick and sturdy enough to support more than your weight, also not too stretchy or thin (it would cut into the skin). I personally have a 20mm jute rope that I think would work well. It is technically possible to hang yourself even on something like a wire or belt but they are quite likely to snap

Would you recommend jute over hemp?

I'm not really an expert on ropes, but from what I've found online hemp is slightly stronger and won't shrink when wet, but I think both are good options as the long as they hold enough weight
I've worked with jute rope before (making a catscratcher), so that's why it was the first to come to mind when I was looking into ropes. On manufacturer site it says that 20mm will hold 1500kg which I think is more than enough

Thanks for information. I was initially think of buying 10mm rope of cotton, but not sure if it's strong enough for full, so I'm considering closer to 20mm and a stronger material. Even the slightest thing that could go wrong, I'd rather reduce the chances of them happening as much as possible. And 1500kg wow, that's like a car fully suspended so that's more than strong enough, practically zero chance of snapping.

Get 1/2 or 5/8 inch double braided dock line. Strong and supple. It will not tear up your skin like hemp rope.

Hm. I ve read that 10mm are ideal. Unless you plan to jump into the rope it should hold a body of 75kg. Dont know really

I was originally planning on doing a long drop hanging, hence the sturdy rope, but setting it up ended up being too complicated and risky for me. Also I ordered mine just on local online marketplace, amazon or something would work
