• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

As the name suggests, what music do you listen to that just helps you deal with life and the problems that life brings.. just a little bit better?

I listen to a lot of post hardcore, post punk and heavy metal. The way the lyrics are sung and the choice of wording in the lyrics just helps me to see how things go so bad in this world and it helps me to realise that things might get better for a little, but they'll all come crashing down around us at some point. There is happier stuff I listen to as well when the mood asks for it but they all follow a pretty similar tone at the end of the day. Grungy lyrics which describe the truth about life, and only the truth, and that's what helps me personally.

I mostly listen to $uicideboy$ these days, It's pretty much the only thing that makes me feel something. Probably because they sing about stuff that resonates with me as the name suggests. I also to some metal.

I can't cry, at least not easily. But this is one of those that hit it.

Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside while still alive.

I listen largely to what you listen to when the storms start brewing but when things look better I blast lots of J-rock

I tried to, but it "won't work with my device" according to the app store.

I also tried on bluestacks, but it literally did not work and the loading times were atrocious, up to 15 minutes.

So yeah, no project sekai for me.

Hmm. Fair enough. I can also listen to a lot more genres too. I do quite enjoy listening to drill too. Both from my home country as well as elsewhere. American rap has helped me a lot.

I remember one time I had knife in hand ready to go, and Come Back to Earth by Mac Miller came on while I was listening to music. And that led to me listening to the whole of the Swimming album, and in the end because the album hit so close to home, and got me really emotional... I was just too weak to go ahead with my plans of ending it all that night.

I guess that really shows how strong music can be and how it makes the brain react, how different emotions can come out just by listening to music, whether it's the beat or the lyrics. I couldn't believe myself that I ended up feeling so weak, that I couldn't commit to CTBing that night because I cried so much, and I just couldn't do it.

I have actually listened to J-rock before. It's a cool genre. I've also enjoyed J-Metal in the past. I listen to a lot of NDH bands too, such as Rammstein, Emigrate, Völkerball and Megaherz just to name a few...

I guess I really am just one big metal head. I like heavy stuff but I don't mind experimenting other genres as I have mentioned before.

Aphex twin's ambient works. Makes me feel really calm and serene. Like everything is going to be fine in the end and I just have to let go of myself and trust the universe.

That really is a good way of thinking about things. It's also another reason why I believe music can be so strong, and can fuel our emotions so much.

Sometimes it's just one song and it makes all the pain go away for a short period of time, but it feels so worth it as you can feel so calm and free.

Metal can really make me feel emotions, especially emo metal. It's the only type of music that really makes me feel something, some form of emotion, whether good or usually bad.
It's so hard to get feeling from anything these days and at this point music is one of the strongest and only ways.

A lot of different genres, but I don't listen to music as much as I used to these days :( dir en grey bc they used to be my most favorite band ever, crystal castles, sometimes lana del rey's first few albums, energetic electronic music that makes me feel like I'm high on stimulants lmao, witch house, ambient soundtracks etc...

I used to listen to a lot of crystal castles too. I kind of have to be in the mood to listen to them now, but I did enjoy their creativity, it was quite different for the time.

Lana del Ray's albums have a special place in my heart and that's just due to how strong her voice is. It conveys a lot of emotions and listening to her stuff does actually make me feel feelings of euphoria.

Gosh I listen to such a variety of stuff! It really depends on what I am doing. I'll break it down my mood/activity:
  • Working out, active, feel good - Dubstep
  • Coding - Synth, usually something upbeat and 80's sounding
  • Work/school related reading - Chill synth
  • Relaxing - Lo-fi
  • Need to sing, feels, let it out - Any song with lyrics about being sad and miserable
(yay double post because my internet suuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks)

If I had to pick a song that makes me feel less lonely, Lithium by Nirvana. When I want to take my mind back to nostalgic times, music by Evanescence alongside others of that era would do the trick. When I just want to take my mind to a different place for awhile, instrumental piano music will sometimes accomplish that; Japanese piano compositions like Always With Me by Youmi Kimura . If I feel like listening to a song that speaks very closely to my soul I would choose A Nine Days' Wonder by Akeboshi.
