Hello, I wanted to ask you guys a generic question, what is true love for you? I've being thinking about it, I have a somehow a good interpretation of what true love means.


For me, true love is wanting something or someone that you will never get.
No matter what you do, no matter what you say, no matter who you are.
However, you need a pinch of hope to get it. This so that you do not feel that it is impossible and that you keep fighting or at least dreaming that you can get it.
I also think that you must have experienced a little bit of that something or someone, so that you feel like you "lost it"
With all that, you make true love, a love that you will never fully experience, a love that will never be achieved, a love that will haunt you forever, that will stay forever and will grow because the little hope of getting it again.
But if you somehow get it, you will eventually get bored of it because that's how humans work for some reason.
And if you don't get it, your mind plays tricks on you, You will think about how good it would be to have that something or someone with you, and how bad it is not to have it again.

So yeah, that is what is true love for me, but well, I'm just a boy who barely knows about things about love, so I would like you to share with me what you think is true love.

To me, true love is putting your needs aside and putting your loved one's needs first even if that's uncomfortable for you. For example, my boyfriend knows I am suicidal because of my mental illness and he supports my decision to ctb. However, it puts a great strain on him and his mental wellness, but he said he would even help me to get N (not possible where I live), or going to a clinic to euthanize myself. As for me, thinking that I live only for him, to save him from the pain of my suicide, me trying to recover for him firstly, not me... I think this is some kind of true love

Your opinion on true love is very interesting, almost philosophical I would say.For me, true love is when you love a person so much that you put him/her in the first place and you only want to do him/her good and you want him/her to be happy even at the expense of your person. obviously the thing must be reciprocal if we are talking about love as a couple. or it can also not be reciprocal ... this is what happens for example between a mother and her child (unfortunately not always).

Sadly, the vey same can be applied if you are a woman. No man will give much of a shit about you (beyond maybe cheap sex if he's drunk or desperate enough) unless you're 10/10 looks and can be arm candy he can show off to boost his own ego. Or, he's a bum and you provide income so he can game or do drugs or whatever else he prefers doing over working.
