My depressive episodes get very bad, and I tend to look at distractions to keep my suicidal thoughts out, since I've been trying to improve since an attempt earlier last year. What are some "seratonin" boosters you guys have to keep your mind from wandering? Feel free to share, it'll be nice to have a place to look for when myself or anyone else needs to look for a distraction. I'll start- there is a video on YouTube called "Dumbo Rat Runs Off With Candy" that has been making me smile recently.

The only thing that works but simultaneously makes me sad are old messages or good moments with my ex bestie or others from my old community. I also listen to the songs we used to listen to mostly BMO adventure time songs but also Marceline the Vampire Queen and plenty of other things that bring me back to those times

Sometimes reminiscing can be a good practice, even if it was in the past and you aren't besties anymore doesn't mean you can't look at the past and be happy with the time you spent together. It's very beautiful. Also, great choices in songs, I listen to the AT soundtrack myself sometimes.

Also, I like watching people talk about passions I can't hope to understand myself. I think the hope behind it is that even if I can't feel passionate about anything myself anymore, I can at least get that guarantee other people can. And now I might know some food science and sensory science concepts, or maybe I've gravely misunderstood and oversimplified the ideas presented to me. It simply doesn't matter either way all that much. I'm not a food scientist and that is the whole point of my practice. :pfff:

Thats cool! are you Lebanese? thats awesome yo i support u 100%.

to OP well i love nature, i like walks in parks and stuff, esepcially on windy days to feel the breeze. Humans are actually hardwired to be calm in nature as nature is our actual natural enivroment. enjoy the trees, plants flowers, ponds and birds and animals.

I sometimes put on these multiple-hour nature walks or walks through the city. I'm not really a big traveller so it's a nice way to see new places without having to go anywhere.

Comedy and people and animals being helped/rescued. There's a lot of bad out here but there's a few good things, occasionally. It helps to focus on that and shut out the bad as much as I can when I'm breaking down.

There's a YouTube, channel Kubz Scouts, his humour gets me through the day smiling and chuckling. and I rarely genuinely do that.
I like playing a gacha game, it's called Genshin impact. bit grind and I do get burned out sometimes but I just take a break and everything is fine <3
my boyfriend also contributes a lot, even through long distance just a call can make me feel the warm blanket of his hug.
Last but not least, can't forget the good food.

I like to think about my future. Mt future can be anything I want it to be since it hasn't happened yet. I can be in a cozy little house on a snowy day with a fireplace and some hot cocoa, sitting on the couch and reading manga while my dog sleeps on my lap. But when it comes to actually looking at something to make me feel better but, (this is kinda lame) I like to look at images of my fav anime characters (like Gojo and Anya). I really have a whole photo album (400+ photos) of gojo on my phone lmaooo

I play Pokémon on emulator (too poor to buy consoles) :ahhha: and watch various videos from the philosophical to the stupid type.

Also Hamtaro is cute :

Hamster happy
Hamtaro leaf

Nature has a calming effect in general.

Not that it's enough but it can lessen the torture sometimes.

I'd say nostalgia. I know it might not be the best feeling out there but i find it cathartic to look back on some good days i had and keep thinking about the feeling I had. Some music could help too. "Its all in your mind" that's what I tell myself. Slow piano prices specifically
Also the sky, sometimes the clouds on the bly sky are just perfect some good scenes make me feel better. Such as wind turbines and solar panels (renewable energy sources in general) and lakes or rivers. Im lucky to live in a place where things like those are common around me.

Listening to music and creating my own via Garageband when I feel too unwell to get up and play. Browsing Youtube helps a lot too, watching concerts or interviews from my favorite bands. Reading helps a lot when I have enough energy to concentrate. On the less healthy end of things, looking at pictures of my unrequited beloved.

Why you feel bad? Women are beautiful, what's wrong with appreciating their beauty? I also love to look at them both in photos and in real life.
Regarding the title of the question: the hill, the forest, the sea, sleep, write my thoughts (especially the recurring ones) and do some physical activity

I'm a creative at heart so I like to draw or paint, if I'm struggling with inspiration a colouring book and a pack of crayons helps to soothe a busy mind. I will try most crafts, I'm a bit of a history buff too so will sit in front of a documentary with some knitting or sewing helps me too.
My newest distraction is renevating an old dolls house. If it's a you tube in bed kinda day I like to watch roller coaster and waterside videos, I dunno why but I just find them fun to watch.

Nothing weird about it, pretty things make people feel better- and that includes people. Men wearing corsets is that for me. I think it's gorgeous.

The table was his biggest obstacles, also, completely valid. I have a friend who's a math major and another who's in physics, the physics major also takes ketamine, so watching them ramble about these intense complex concepts while also high out of their mind is a spectacle for me.
