What is full suspension really like?

I can't bring myself to do it and I keep wondering if my fear is making it seem like worse than it really is with the right setup,

Sure the survival instinct is tough but the actual process of losing conciousness isn't the worst thing in the world and some people even enjoy it. Is it possible im over estimating how bad it is?

I don't think a lot of people survive full suspension to tell us how it is. Maybe it is a good idea to start with partial and then when you feel you're becoming unconscious kick the chair. I can only imagine hanging there with a rope around your neck and a blocked windpipe is probably not a pleasant experience.

Interesting idea, maybe I could lean on the noose until I become faint and then kick the chair like you said

That's what I tried to do a couple of years ago. Unfortunately I couldn't find my sweet spot to faint and just ended up blocking my windpipe and with a huge pressure in my head. However I've seen some videos that make it look really easy.

I think it doesn't take more than 30 sec to loose consciousness, and once you're hanging there's natural mechanisms in the body to help you cope with the situation, cortisol, adrenaline, you're probably in a state of shock...
you know how when you see someone experiencing something tragic you assume how bad they feel, but when you're actually going through it you're state of mind is so different from a "normal"state of mind that it's somehow bareable? that's the only way I can imagine it.. that it's way worse to think of yourself doing it, than actually experience it..
so I think that it's very possible to overthink it....

While it doesn't take long to go unconscious, I plan on taking some alprazolam with alcohol to make me relax more. I am hoping I can get the noose just right so that I pass out quickly. I imagine that I will panic a little at first even with drugs but it should not last that long, just a matter of a few seconds.

To help understand what it is like, look up Iranian executions where the person was forgiven after hanging for minutes. None of them talk about pain, some eve describe it as somewhat pleasant. It is only the first seconds of hanging when they feel any discomfort.

How it felt from my perspective:

I've tried partial with various configurations, could never close the carotids but was able to close the windpipe and the jugulars to some extent. When I tried doing it like the Swedish and Russian guys I just stood up immediately from the pain of having the windpipe crushed, haha. It's extremely painful.

as far as I know a perfect hanging is in theory painless, and it's all about closing the carotid, whilst leaving the windpipe open..?

I saw videos and photos of people who put the knot at the front of their neck - high IQ play in my opinion. They still close the arteries but don't suffocate.
I think full is the way to go and might even be less painfull if done just right, partial is hit or miss - a method where your lizard brain can "save" you is a no-no in my book.
