I'm not going to mention my personal beliefs here, but lets say that there is a place that goes after you die, and you happen to see some people or a person that you didn't get along with. How do you think this is dealt with? Whether it's purgatory, heaven, hell, or some other place, how do you think it works?

I don't know. Would ghosts suffer from social anxiety? It would be really awkward.

Hmm.... would they? If they didn't feel anything at all, it would kind of be an awful existance floating around and not being able to feel any sort of way! :0

The most probably answer to that problem is that afterlife is a way to cope with death invented by humans, so theres not problem at all.

You are your consciousness, end your capacity of being conscious and all you have is nothingness... not even that actually because that is also an human perception.

I've thought about this a lot too. The nothingness behind nothingness, what it's like to experience nothing, and in fact, not even be able to experience anything because your ability to percieve is just... gone.

I think the answer depends on your experience. Did you see a ghost? I think i did one time. So because of that experience i believe in the possibility.

I don't think I've ever seen a ghost, but I won't rule anything out! Except um... maybe lizard people. thats a little silly for me.

Well no one knows, no one has come back from brain death. People on deep coma that came back says that have all kind of long crazy dreams but they obviously only can remember that because their brain capacity is well enough.

So yep, its a complete mistery by now, but the most probably answer must be the same way as you feel when you get sleep and dont remember any dream but also never wake up.

I'd imagine if there were some sort of airy-fairy afterlife, base human behaviors like hatred wouldn't exist there, seeing as that's just a function of evolution and competition for resources on this planet, etc.

There's no telling what the afterlife will look like, if there is one. Assuming it looks like what most people expect it to look like, at that point, the only real option would be to feel your blood curdling as you see them in the torture cell next to you, and wonder how your fate may have changed had they not been in your life.

I like to think that out of pure coincidence, at irregular periods in the future, our brains will be formed out of non-biological and unrelated materials, for just an instant, and for just that instant of functioning after our last moments. And then, all of those stacked on each other will make "us" experience a whole lot of randomness and teleportation, and probably some strange and unthinkable feelings, if any. It would be really wild, and we would have no control. I'm not a physicist nor a neurologist so I couldn't say if that's actually possible.

If you believe in hell or purgatory that's probably the place where all the representations of everything you hate exist. I personally have a more optimistic view in that regard. Do you believe in hell and still considered suicide?

If there's an afterlife and our memories are preserved, we're all screwed. I mean, what's of being dead then? Yes, we may not have a physical body and all the physiological needs or disadvantages that comes with it; but if our memories carry on, how will people that went through traumatizing events on their lives able to find peace? Even if we had all eternity, that would be fucked up.
I want to die because I want peace, because I'm tired and unmotivated to go through the rest of my life confined within the walls of this prison: physical, emotional, social, economical.
The people in this forum are wonderful, I wouldn't mind preserving them in my memory. Though I'd rather remember them being happy, but is hard given the very character of this site.

There no afterlife. I have a family member that was MURDER. In a country like Communist Red China with 1.4 billions people nobody care if a normal citizen died, police don't give a shit nor care to track down who the killer is. Not just my family members, tons of people got murder in China, India, etc.. and guess what? NONE come back (in spirit/soul/ghost form) and tell the police who the killer was. Nor come back in dreams to tell their spouse, nor give their spouse a closure.

1). If there is an afterlife, I know my cousin will come back to tell her parents who the killer is. She didn't want to die, she got murder, she was enjoy her life with her husband and children. If you was enjoying your life, and someone kill you, you be a damn angry ghost and at least go tell the police who your killer is to get justice.

2). You want your parents to have closure, not only your parents. But your spouse and your poor children. If there was a spirit form. My cousin will come back in dreams to tell her husband or children or her parents who the killer is.

3). You want your body to be bury. Not rotten somewhere with maggots and decompose, again, you were murder. You were unfairly have your life taken away from you.

And guess what? NONE. NONE. NONE ever come back in dreams to talk to their parents/spouse/children tell who their killer is, or at least tell where their body is so their bodies can be found to be bury. Or at least give hint of who kill them so the police can track down those serial killers.

Guess what? Serial killers are still out there killing even more people, and NONE ever come back in spirit form.

There no damn afterlife.

And guess what, the airplane that was crash in Malaysia wasn't it, hundreds of people burried in the ocean, guess what? Even till this day nobody know where that trace of airplane is. IF there is an afterlife, spirit, soul, yada yada, those hundreds of people will at least come back in dreams or show signs so people can find the airplane.

Afterlife, soul, afterlife yada yada are just things that human made it up to give them COMFORT, due to human nature they afraid of death, therefore they still want to live in the "afterlife" form even after they already dead.

As unbelievable/unlikely this sounds, there actually is an afterlife, and even though this may sound just religious and not factual, it actually is: if you were a good person you are happy, if you were seriously bad you get boiled. That's all I know though, if I ever find out more I'll post again.

Well, maybe some people believe we just can't contact the people anymore, and that the afterlife is completely separate from this one.
