When will I find an exit?

Ive had this thought on my mind first time around 3 years ago. It's one of those that I don't really believe in that much anymore, but what if we are all actually in a coma, unable to wake up unless we die?

Basically, what if instead of afterlife or nothingness, it turns out that this is just a one big dream that we have, and that in reality we are in a coma, and to wake up in reality, we have to die successfully? This was my idea of what's after death for quite a long time, but nowadays I dont find this one possible anymore - I believe that its either heaven or hell or just reincarnation.

But what do you all think of such an idea? That we wake up from either a dream or a coma when we die.

Wish you all a peaceful and chill day.

I think solipsism is pretty useless, and using it to theorise about life after death (especially when suicidal) is dangerous.

There's no evidence that we will "wake up" after death, and good reason to think we will cease to exist. So I believe we'll cease to exist.

we could very well be brains in a jar. bcus i had vivid dreams with pain, smell, taste, touch, romantic love, deafening sound, etc. i woke up feeling so strange after each one like "this might not be real" and "how do i know if this is" it was a weird feeling. cus i realised how easy it is for the brain to simulate anything. that my strong feeling that this is real isn't based on anything other than physical sensations. which the brain can simulate 🤡 so that means - that evidence i have that life is real is bullshit and i have to accept that i don't know. those dreams really mess with the mind

I really hope that's not true as I don't want to wake up . I don't want to exist at all so any form of afterlife or different life seems awful to me.

I think we're nothing more than our brain cells, once they die that's it, can't go anywhere or wake up anywhere as cease to exist.

I used to very strongly believe that when we die, that's it… game over.

I've since been reading into analytic idealism, and honestly it's completely changed my point of view. In some ways, it's says what you've described - we're experiencing a dissociative experience of the world (maybe this could be called a 'coma')… and upon death, we 'wake up' as part of a global consciousness underpinning reality. I don't think that means that me, as in individuated ego, survives when I die - just as my dream avatar doesn't survive when I wake up. And I don't think that's something to fear - when you wake up from a nightmare you see that it is wasn't YOU who was experiencing it, just as I think will happen when we die and wake up from this life, which can be a nightmare for many of us. But still, it's a scary thought as essentially our ego and sense of self will be gone.

It's hard to get your head around, and sounds very spiritual and woo woo, but it's actually based on a very scientifically and logically driven argument which I honestly can't refute. This article provides a really good summary: https://www.bigelowinstitute.org/wp.../10/kastrup-empirical-postmortem-survival.pdf

But as someone said above, I think it's important that we remember this is simply all theoretical and absolutely should not be a guiding factor in ending our life - the most we can say for definite, is that we have no idea what faces us after death. It's risky to view it as offering an opportunity into freedom and expansion, when actually we might just simply cease to exist in every sense.

I personally don't hope for any kind of reality, I just wish for eternal nothingness where all is finally gone for me, I'd never wish to experience anything at all under any circumstances, rather I just wish to be unaware for all eternity, I just wish for peace from this cruel and painful existence.
