what happens during a welfare check

ive been hearing about people who buy sn online and later have a welfare check done on them and im wondering what even fkn happens
can they force you into hospitalization when they visit you?

Usually police will come to your door and evaluate whether or not you are safe or at risk of harming yourself. Some countries give police the power to arrest or hand you a form then you would be taken to a hospital and/or psych ward for 72 hours. This could be shorter, or longer depending on how the psychologist thinks you are doing.

You might get a phone call before they arrive, checking whether or not you're still alive and letting you know that they're coming. Then they'll come, do an assessment as above poster said. If everything is ok they should leave you alone.

How do they know to do a welfare check? Who's telling them? Is it sellers? Financial intermediaries? Mail/shipping service? Anyone know?
