What was it like before you were born? There were 13 billion years before that happened. Like that.

my guess is nothing.

I've had my own falling out story with religion.

pro tip: do something incredibly frowned upon in your religion, like try to sell your soul if you believe in the christian god or if you're skeptical. literally nothing will happen and youll feel more silly about worrying than scared afterwards.

I did that, and it went as described.

good point
You just don't wake up. Consciousness is an emergent phenomenon from physical brains. Destroy the brain, make the brain unable to function and you die. All religions and spirituality is hubris trying to deny this fact. Why would you be afraid of a recent god? There have been hominids running around for over 1 million years long before any organized religion. You just go to sleep and never wake up.

Nothing. Biological death is not typically instant, there's a minimally conscious state that transcends the period up until such time the bioelectrical cognitive activity crashes reaches a terminal finality. The flood of DMT at onset can feel like a transcendental or supernatural experience until exhausted upon terminal death.

Well . . . Careful here. I have been listening to a bunch of debates about evolution vs creation. Even non-creationists are saying it is mathematically impossible this complex life just evolved. DNA and other things above my pay grade are too complex; it's intelligent design. While they don't go so far as to say they believe in God, they admit this isn't random or evolutionary. So, ok, there is a God. I can get behind that. My issue is why things are as they are. Too much suffering, the ultrareligious reply, with free will. Ok, free will, but even with our kids, we let them do things but not play out in traffic. It is like God made everything, then took a million-year nap and let us just go with no direction.

But to say death ends it all, I don't know about that. That uncertainty keeps me here, for now anyway . . .

To be perfectly honest, forget about CTB. For thousands of years, the human race has been searching within this chaos of species of all kinds for evidence that there is some powerful, supernatural being behind life; without success. If you still feel fear because of this, try clinging to some religion. They exist for people like you. And to be honest again: they do a good job. I really don't understand why you should suffer if you believe in that possibility.

Just wanting some peace

Non-existence is all I could ever believe in and is all I could hope for no matter what, I just want some peace from this terrible, dreadful existence of torturous suffering, in this existence I just always saw as a mistake that only ever tortures existing beings non-existence is just all I see as positive.

Only in non-existence will I be at peace from this existence that just causes suffering and harm with no limit as to how much one can be tortured, all I want is for all future suffering to be prevented by ceasing to exist, there's just so much evil in this dreadful, terrible existence and the fact that this existence was imposed is just so horrific and terrible to me. Existence truly is an abomination that just causes harm, the suffering and torture of existing really is endless, I wish I could erase this torturous existence.

I believe that there is life after death, and once we cross over most of our suffering will end in the afterlife. This is my belief.
I could be mistaken, as nobody knows with 100% certainty what happens after death.

I just want to be free of the bodily pain and be accepted ( i was avoided by all for no reason because of my asperger's)

I like to think nothing happens after death and it's just like sleep but forever. Though I do also sometimes like to think I have a soul too; I do wonder what'll happen to it after I'm gone

I do suspect there is nothing at all. But I would not be so certain about many things as some of the commenters here. I value spirituality, for example, as it encourages ethical behaviour even if it is "just" human intuitions. Generally, I believe that materialist reductionism misses the mark on consciousness as a fundamental mystery and its value as a perceived phenomenon that can be wondered and asked about. Most of the materialist intuitions don't check out upon closer inquiry either or at least fall apart when looking at certain phenomena. I believe that consciousness is fundamental or at least influences matter much more than commonly believed. Look up meditative practices, especially thinks like tukdam. The DMT theory, for example, is not sufficiently proven as far as I am aware. It is a possible explanation that I have mentioned here before, too. But even then, it doesn't explain why mere "chemicals" should be capable of self awareness, love, care and wonder. Materialism doesn't explain anything, it's just an attempt at explaining away the most obvious: conscious experience/Consciousness. The West just has this bad habit of being allergic to anything that even smells "mystical" which seems to be mostly the result of conformity/group-think or ignorance. I don't believe there is anything to be afraid of, though and I don't believe in heaven or hell. Just Consciousness.

No, not some dude, the majority of the scientific community that understands mathematics and DNA.

If you're going to kill yourself, you should be scared!

No, the majority of the scientific community are physicalists. At least hard sciences like biology or neuroscience. If you're talking about gender studies or some shit then maybe they believe in magic but not serious people.

What the hell are gender studies?

All I am saying is, God or no God, this is impossible to happen by crawling out of a pile of slime over millions of years.

And if you are going to kill yourself, you just might want to be relatively certain what will happen.

50% of the reason I am still here is uncertainty.

It's not impossible. It happened. You're an emergent phenomenon with consciousness and thereby have a centric view of the universe because of it. You aren't smart for saying these things religious nuts have said forever. It's not impossible. You exist. It could be a simulation, it could be random chance. It certainly isn't your jewish god. Cry more low iq mongoloid. Evolution has been proven in a micro sense and proven beyond any reasonable doubt since genetic sequences have been studied. You're obviously some retarded religious zealot with information from 1960 or something. Just stay out of the way of actual science, moron. Fuck I hate idiots like you that actually believe "evolution is impossible because look at this YouTube video! Not only is it impossible it proves my personal retard sand shit religion true!" Fucking learn to reason you absolute monkey. Which fake sand shit religion do you believe in?
